Hey everyone.

Back in 2014, you all helped me put together my first rig.

I suppose I should thank you—it’s been running without a single hiccup, and I’m typing this from the same machine while it still holds up.

It is finally time for an upgrade, and my budget is a bit more flexible this time—around $2000 at most.

I use my PC for everything, though let's be honest, gaming is the priority. I have one non-negotiable requirement, though—it HAS to be built through

https://www.newegg.com/

Thanks again, and I'm hoping for some solid advice once more.

By the way, if anyone could recommend a decent gaming monitor under $667, I wouldn't mind.

Could you maybe grab the graphics card from somewhere else?

Gigabyte B450M DS3H
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
4GB DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) CL19 SR x8 UDIMM 288pin x2
Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATAIII
Kingston Technology A400 SSD 240GB 240GB 2.5" Serial ATA III
Zalman S3 Midi-Tower ATX case, no PSU, black
Fortron Hexa 85+ 450W, 80+ Bronze, ATX
LC-Power Cosmo Cool 120

Total 3 $273 ( $1235 with a 3% discount )

That lands right at 6000, and you get the best GPU possible for this budget without making any compromises.

It isn't 32; the system misread it, it's actually 16.

All I really care about is being able to pay via PayPal... and it looks like they accept it too, so it might work... though I suppose then everything wouldn't arrive all at once...

I’ve been poking around a bit... is an RTX 2060 actually worth the trouble—and would it even be feasible to build a rig up to $2333 using one?

The only real dealbreaker is that I need to be able to pay via PayPal (doesn't have to be through Uzishop)

It's doable, obviously, since it's about ~$133 more expensive. Performance-wise they're pretty close; I'd say the RTXica is maybe a few FPSa better on average, but not enough to really justify the extra cost.

You won't even get much use out of Fičrse RTXa (ray tracing/DLSS) with a 2060 because those features are just too "expensive" for the FPS you'll get.
On one hand, getting the 2060 feels kind of pointless because it simply isn't powerful enough to run any major AAA titles with ray tracing enabled on high settings.

So, I think your current combo is plenty, but if you really want it, go ahead and grab the 2060. You aren't making a huge mistake if you think those extra 5 FPSa are worth it. 🙂

I'd probably lean toward the 2060... maybe even pair it with an Intel Core i7? Or is that just not worth it compared to what you can get with a Ryzen?

If I were to go the Ryzen + 2060 route, what kind of build would you suggest?

Adding an i7 will bump the price up by about $667, so keep that in mind 🙂

If you’re set on the 2060, you don't actually need to change anything else in the build—just swap out the 1660Ti for the 2060 and you're good to go.

Something like this, for example: CLICK It’s a fair amount of cash for those specs, but if you really want that RTX power, go for it. 👍

Yeah, I just finished up on this one, haha... every single day it feels like $167 more

What do you think of this? Some guys over on a tech forum put this together for me...

Solid setup if you're committed to Intel. But honestly? It feels like a waste to pick up an i5 when the Ryzen 5 2600 is cheaper $467 and offers a better path for future upgrades.

Everyone seems to think it’s a waste of money—so I guess I’m walking away from Intel.

I know, I know, I'm being a pain—but could someone please put together the best possible Ryzen 5 2600 build for me on Newegg (keep it under $2667 with an RTX 2060)?

What’s actually the difference between G.Skill Ripjaws and Aegis? Is it even worth shelling out an extra twenty bucks for the Ripjaws—I mean, maybe not. I was doing some digging just now and looks like the best deal, I guess. Should I just grab it?

Look, man, I’ve told you several times already—what you’ve got right now is the best value for your money. You don't need to change a single thing, but if you're really itching for those $50 go ahead and grab that RAM... even though it won't make any difference, not even in the clock speed.

Aegis is a total no-brainer. Honestly, they're among the cheapest options out there (plus they're 3000MHz CL16), and they have a proven track record of working flawlessly on almost every motherboard you throw them at. No headaches, no nonsense.
