Hey everyone,

So, what I'm really looking for is a solid bundle—specifically a motherboard, processor, and memory kit all tied together.

My main focus would be photo editing in Photoshop and running AutoCAD—though I won't be doing any heavy 3D modeling.
What's the budget? $1333.
It would be absolutely wonderful if we could actually find these components available on Discount24...

LP, and thanks in advance!

As for the rest—you absolutely need an SSD if you don't have one already, like, say, a Samsung EVO
If you've already got one, just grab another 8GB stick of RAM.

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me.
I actually already have an SSD, so I'm mostly just weighing my options for adding more storage.
The catch is that my motherboard is an mATX—so I really need a PCIe slot and as many SATA ports as I can get my hands on.
With that in mind, I was looking at this as a potential alternative:

What are your thoughts on this one?

You can, just keep in mind you'll need an ATX case. Honestly, you can't really go wrong picking out a motherboard for a non-K Intel chip—as long as it’s the 1150 socket, you're golden. From there, just double-check the number of connectors you actually need. I’d definitely recommend grabbing an aftermarket cooler for that CPU, though. Even if it’s a non-K model and you aren't planning on overclocking, it still runs pretty hot when it's under a heavy load for a while. You might also want to look into an i7 4790.

Yeah, I know—I’ve got a full-sized tower, so you can fit whatever you want in there 🙂
Anyway, thanks! I'll take it!

If you aren't planning on adding an extra 8GB of RAM but still want to overclock, you can definitely make an i7 4790K work with a Z97 motherboard and a high-end cooler—check out Best Buy or Micro Center for some decent deals if you're looking at something like the Corsair iCUE series...
Because honestly, that H97 board performs almost as well as a budget-friendly Z97, like the ASRock Z97 ANNIVERSARY. Unless you're aiming for something top-tier like an Extreme 4 or a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3, there's really no need to overspend...
