I'm trying to figure out what the legal requirements are for building a morgue.

Basically, they're planning to build one right across the street from my house. Even though everyone is complaining about it, the developers aren't budging. At this point, my only real move is to try and find some flaws in their plans and zoning applications to stall things.
I haven't been able to find anything useful online, so I’d be SUPER grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. 🙂

Wait, right in front of your house?! On your own property line?!
1. You need to check your city or county's zoning maps and land-use plans immediately.
2. As immediate neighbors to this proposed project, you should receive a formal notice from the county office responsible for issuing permits—make sure you show up and officially state your objection to having it built so close to your residence. If things get complicated, you might need to hire an attorney. 🤷
This all sounds highly questionable... where is this happening? Who is footing the bill for this construction? Who is the developer behind such a crazy plan?!

Building a cemetery and its surrounding facilities has to follow all the local cemetery regulations.
If you live right next to one and the zoning maps already show plans for expansion or new buildings, you’re going to have a hard time fighting it—especially if they’ve checked every single legal box and followed the urban planning rules to a T.

I find it hard to believe anyone would just wake up and decide to build a morgue on their own, and let's be honest, getting a permit for something like that outside of a medical facility isn't happening. 🤷

Around my neck of the woods, they actually tucked the morgue right into the middle of the hospital complex in downtown Chicago, and they even used this old historic Victorian mansion for it!
So, when you’re heading into the hospital and pass the security gate and the ramp toward the ER, you’ll see the maternity ward sitting on your left and the morgue just sitting there on your right. 😕🤷 It feels like such a weird irony, I guess, if you think about it.
And then, right across the street from the morgue, you’ve got an elementary school and a daycare, along with all these nice private houses and apartments.

Does anyone know if I can find the official cemetery regulations online somewhere? I’m thinking about bringing a lawyer into the mix, but I’m worried that might just end up making everything way more complicated than it needs to be...
