Hey there.
I’ve been stuck in the hospital for the last few days, hooked up to their Wi-Fi. I can get onto pretty much any site just fine, except for Facebook and YouTube. I tried switching between Chrome and Internet Explorer, but it's the same deal... so if anyone knows how to fix this, let me know.
Thanks! 🙂
P.S. Please don't tell me to clear my cache or history because that isn't it. It's some kind of general issue, not the browser.

Maybe try using https instead
https://www.youtube.com
https://www.facebook.com

If that doesn't work—maybe try pinging YouTube and Facebook through the command prompt. If the packets aren't going through, then I guess those sites are just blocked by their IT department

So, YouTube works fine over HTTPS, but Facebook is being stubborn. I guess you could say it's just not cooperating. Can you explain how I'm supposed to ping that?

I'm not sure which version of Windows you're running, but you should be able to find Run in your Start menu—on XP it’s a specific button, whereas on Windows 7 you’d just type it into the search bar next to the Start button. Once you open Run, type CMD to pull up the command prompt, and then enter these commands:

ping www.facebook.com
ping www.youtube.com

If one of those goes through via HTTPS, it probably means some domains are being blocked over port 80.

tried to ping it but I just get this:
pinging star.c10r.facebook.com (66.220.152.19) with 32 bits of data:
request timed out

If you can't get onto Facebook even through HTTPS, then it’s probably been blocked pretty thoroughly.

Maybe try Googling "Facebook blocked on network" or something similar—there are usually plenty of suggestions on how to bypass it, like using a proxy, a VPN, or whatever.
