I’ve got an incredibly loud roommate—well, my brother, if we're being technical—and no matter how many compromises I make, ultimatums I issue, or "gentleman's agreements" we strike, he just keeps doing his own thing regardless. So, my question is:

Does anyone else here actually sleep with earplugs?

How do you even manage to wake up when you're using them?
I don't have any grandparents or parents around to come knock on my door and wake me up.

I am so desperate for eight hours of uninterrupted peace that I'm honestly considering sleeping pills as a last resort. I've heard they work wonders for knocking you out, but (naturally) there's that whole dependency issue to worry about!

(Honestly, sleeping with earplugs feels incredible—it's like all you can hear is your own heartbeat and breathing. It's pure, blissful silence.)

(The author posted this same thread over on the Foodie board, but the moderators couldn't quite get it moved over here.)

I think you might have it a little bit wrong—it definitely doesn't cause addiction. Take Cersan, for example. It’s actually a pretty great thing because it helps you drift off and settles all those racing thoughts, but maybe there's a catch? I guess since it reduces oxygen flow to the brain a bit, you might feel a little sluggish the next day. So, if you really need to be sharp and focused, it might be a bit of a bust...
Then there's Sanval, which is honestly amazing for sleeping. You just drift off like a baby and wake up feeling totally fine without any side effects. It feels like the absolute cutting edge of pharmaceutical science...
Maybe try a little bit of everything and see what works for you. Personally, I tried using those earplugs once, but that was a total disaster for me. My head starts feeling way too hot, and I hate to admit it, but I really need some airflow, and I guess that's supposed to come through my ears😉
Just a heads-up though, you can do whatever you want, but please don't mix pills with alcohol. That can boost the effect by like 60%, which isn't ideal. Anyway, enjoy!😎

Just try taking some Sanval... I think your issue is that it doesn't just lull you to sleep, it basically knocks you out cold.

Alternatively, I’d suggest just putting his little brother out of his misery...

I actually dealt with something similar once. I eventually just lost my cool and pulled the fuses so he couldn't mess around with the TV or the lights anymore.

I find myself in complete agreement with your suggestion—Sanval. It’s a wonderful way to ensure you drift off peacefully and wake up feeling truly refreshed tomorrow morning.

Does anyone know the current price for Sanval—specifically, how many tablets are in a pack and how long a single bottle usually lasts me?

Man, this whole situation has completely overflowed the bucket. My brother wakes me up at half-past five in the morning with an alarm clock so loud it practically cracks the drywall—and just when I’m finally conscious, my old lady starts chiming in, loudly lecturing me about why I need to finally get out of bed.

Honestly, don't go overboard with the pills. Maybe try just syncing up with my brother's schedule... you know, getting up whenever he gets up. Besides, you usually get the best sleep anyway if you're actually hitting the hay before 11 PM...

I honestly have no clue... maybe try checking at a local CVS?

Could you send over the pricing? I’d love to run some numbers and see if this actually makes sense for us.

Honestly, just try some earplugs. I use them all the time—they create this great little bubble of quiet that really helps me chill. It’s a bit weird at first since you can hear your own breathing so clearly, like you're trapped inside your own head, but you get used to it fast enough.

It feels a little strange at first, honestly; you can hear your own breathing so clearly it’s almost like you’re listening to your internal organs, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, that’s just not an option for me. When I wear earplugs, I can't hear a single thing—which isn't ideal because I end up missing my alarm and running late for everything.

To switch gears a bit, do you think it’s actually healthier to sleep with a pillow, or is sleeping flat on the mattress better?

Lately, I’ve been sleeping with my head directly on the mattress, and strangely enough, I feel like I drift off much faster than I do when I use a pillow.
