Beyond just turning into a total cesspool (which is its own headache), this thread has become a subtle breeding ground for homophobia—wrapped up in polite little packages, of course—and that’s honestly the last thing we need here.

At this point, most of the actual useful replies were already given in the first couple of pages, leaving the rest of the discussion completely off-track. Usually, threads like this spiral pretty quickly into massive flame wars and disgusting comments, so we're going to lock this one down accordingly.

A forum is supposed to be for debate... dialogue... trading ideas... even if things get heated sometimes.
But honestly, I don't see anyone spreading hate here, regardless of which side they're on. So, moderator Phiber, feel free to hand out a warning if you really think so.
I'm pretty sure this site doesn't stand for shutting down an entire thread just because one person has a bad take. You sanction the individual, otherwise, what's even the point of having a forum? Plus, acting like this makes it feel less like a discussion space and more like a tiny autocracy.
We can all agree that the views held by tjuner, Alex, Diva, and the rest of you little guys are "progressive," but if the other side isn't allowed to speak their mind—no matter how backwards it sounds, as long as they aren't being abusive—then we're basically killing democracy and the whole reason this place exists.
Is this actually a FORUM????
