Look, I’m asking this without any judgment or anyone trying to lecture me on morality 🙂

I was wondering if there’s actually a way to reach those elevated states of consciousness—the kind people usually hit with drugs—but through some sort of "natural" route?

Like, does anyone know of specific meditations, breathing exercises, or anything like that?

Just keep it simple, please. I’m a total layman here.

Thanks 🙂

There are two main paths: magical rituals and Kundalini yoga exercises—though you have to be careful, those can be risky. Both aim to unlock mystical, supernatural experiences that are far more profound and high-quality than any drug-induced hallucinations.

Drugs definitely crank up your creative flow and sensory input...

Honestly, I’m just totally fascinated by everything hidden deep inside me, and I love those moments when it all finally spills out. Not like I’m some enlightened guru walking around with a constant state of high consciousness, though... 😢

I’ve been obsessing over how to actually tap into that headspace without... you know... constantly being high. Ugh... No. Just, no.

What even is Kundalini yoga anyway? Magic rituals? Hmm... honestly, that doesn't sound particularly appealing to me...

Unfortunately, I’m not exactly some enlightened being living in a state of constant higher consciousness...

So, what exactly do you mean by higher consciousness?
To me, it sounds like you're talking about expanding awareness.
What is it that you're actually looking for?
Look, drugs stimulate consciousness in all sorts of ways—they trigger different states entirely. And exercises work the same way. But the point isn't just "doing the exercise." Exercise is about discipline, plain and simple.
The goal... what are you even trying to achieve for yourself?
And let's be real, even spiritual practices can be dangerous if you aren't careful.
Just try to actually be fascinated by life—try to find your place within it.
If you do that, things will fall into place. It doesn't matter when, but it takes time. You can't rush it.
That's what real life is about.
By the way, I haven't met anyone like that either, so don't beat yourself up over it...
😉 🙂

Thanks to the mod for moving this thread; I realized after posting that it actually belongs in this section 🙂

To me, being in a state of higher consciousness means experiencing this surreal, out-of-this-world mental state where you can finally see, grasp, and really perceive the deeper layers of things...

Like, whenever I'm deep into one of my creative hobbies, I’ll spend forever just racking my brain trying to find some inspiration... And if I happen to be under the slight influence of something, the images start flooding in—it's honestly incredible..

I’ve felt the exact same way during that initial phase of drifting off to sleep, that weird limbo where you aren't quite awake but you aren't fully asleep either—vivid images just dance behind your eyes and suddenly all these confusing things start making sense. It's hard for me to put into words because these are all such new realizations for me; I've been dabbling in spirituality lately, and since I used to be a pretty down-to-earth person, it's been a bit of a struggle getting used to all these new developments in my life..

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you won't grasp any sense of the universe through Binah and Chokmah (Understanding and Wisdom in the Kabbalah) without years of dedicated occult study. If you're looking for an easy shortcut to mysticism, just head down to Mexico for some peyote treatments. The risk is you might end up completely catatonic after those sessions 😁

Oh man, I definitely don't need some kind of rushed treatment here 😁 I mean, I'll work on it... eventually... maybe.

Seriously, what is this? Is it actually impossible to just slowly and steadily draw it out of someone..? Forget about Mexico City, give me a break. (And what even is peyote? Some kind of plant 😕 )

It's a type of cactus used to produce mescaline.
Though, you know, synthetic mescaline is usually what people call ecstasy... 😁

😁

I know, right?

Wait a second... so you're saying the actual substance used for X really does exist out there in nature! Wow... just wow... 🙂

But then again... why do drugs even exist in the wild? Everything happens for a reason, I guess. There’s a purpose behind everything... just like water, food, or sunlight. And if you go overboard with anything, you're done for.

It’s the same deal with humans. If you push consciousness too far and it leads to a total breakdown... or if you chase extreme highs only to be met with crushing lows... you need balance. You have to have balance.

I suppose the road to an expanded state of mind is full of thorns and misery... it’s like there’s always a price to pay. You get that incredible feeling from the substances, sure, but it lasts one night, and then two days later, you're just a complete wreck.

Just thinking out loud here... my apologies 🙂

So I find myself wondering—is it actually healthy to insist on a constant state of enlightenment when that's just fundamentally unnatural? Still, man, I would give anything for it...

Sometimes I get this sensation where it feels like my spirit just detaches from my body, leaving me to watch myself from above... but it only lasts for a few seconds at most. Is there actually a specific name for that state of consciousness?😕

First, you need at least two years of deep theoretical study and intensive library research 😁, coupled with some practical application, and even then... it’s just work, work, work... and more work.

You won't get anywhere just by babbling about it. Sure, psychedelics might offer assistance, but only under strictly controlled clinical conditions and only after years of discipline when a person has actually mastered their own mind.

Consider this analogy: you wouldn't hand the keys of a Formula 1 car to an amateur driver; they'd wrap that thing around the nearest tree in seconds. But if you give it to someone who has already conquered Formula 3... well, they'll actually know how to push a Formula 1 machine to its absolute limit.

Don't you dare come at me for rambling—it’s what gets the gears turning, and everything starts with a little bit of deep thinking, doesn't it? 😁

Does anyone have any book recommendations? I'm thinking about diving into this stuff a bit more seriously so I can wrap my head around it and figure out if it's actually worth the investment or just a massive waste of time 🙂 Thanks.

Hmm... I find it difficult to grasp how you can claim to have an opinion on something you clearly have zero experience with and have never actually attempted. 😈

As I have already stated... it takes a significant amount of time for a person to develop the necessary insight to discern what is truly effective from what is merely superficial.

Tell me, then: what exactly would you do, how would it benefit you, and what purpose would it serve to occupy your time with this? Once I understand your objective, perhaps I can dig up a relevant recommendation for you.

...it all starts with the thinking process...

From your perspective, it sounds like this whole thing kicked off because of drug use.
...that sense of epiphany...

So, what you're saying is you had these "insights"—you stumbled upon some ultimate truth during those trips.
You experienced a feeling—to use your own words. If I'm following your logic correctly, that specific feeling is your starting point. But here’s the catch: that sensation is nothing more than a subtle trick being played on your mind. That is where the danger lies.
...insisting on a constant state of epiphany when that's just fundamentally unnatural...

And honestly, I find myself asking again... what is it you actually want?

Is there actually a "natural" way to hit those high-level states of consciousness you usually get from psychedelics?

Like, are there specific meditations, breathing exercises, or anything else out there?

Keep it simple—layman's terms only.

Thanks. 🙂

Yep, it exists. Just stick to Christian faith, prayer, and hard work.
Guaranteed results. 🙂 👍

Mescaline has absolutely nothing to do with ecstasy. Where on earth did you pick up that nonsense? 😲 Mescaline triggers intense, mystical hallucinations—which is a far cry from ecstasy—and it doesn't cause the brain damage associated with MDMA. 😁

The cactus is actually known as Lophophora Williamsii. It's used as a ritual substance by shamans across Central and South America, much like those mushrooms they call "flesh of the gods," or Psilocybe Mexican.

Honestly, comparing Mescaline Phenethylamine to ecstasy feels like a total insult to the cactus. They just aren't even in the same league.

While most people associate it with Peyote, you can actually find it in several other species like Lophophora williamsii, Trichocereus pachanoi, or Trichocereus peruvianus.
Classic literature covers this pretty well—you’ve got Aldous Huxley diving into it in Perception Gate, and then there's Carlos Castaneda and his whole series centered around Juan Matus.

That said, if someone is looking for those kinds of experiences, you don't necessarily need to track down a specific cactus; there are plenty of plants growing right here in the States that can get the job done. But man, playing around with stuff like Datura or Fly Agaric is incredibly dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. You never truly know the concentration of the active compounds in a wild plant... one bad dose and you're heading straight to the ER with kidney or liver failure.

But honestly? It all seems a bit pointless to me. I feel like you should be able to reach those states without needing any drugs at all...
