Well, it finally hit our neighbors in Italy. According to the news, this coronavirus is spreading like wildfire—they’ve already logged over 100 cases. It looks like the initial patient was just an asymptomatic carrier rather than the actual source, because they haven't pinpointed the true zero yet. That person is likely still out there, spreading the virus without even realizing it. The Italian authorities are scrambling to restrict movement, but from an epidemiological standpoint, the situation is a mess. Who knows where the virus will jump next?
The borders with America remain wide open, and apparently, border patrol agents are expected to just "spot the symptoms" on sight. Is that a joke?
What are your thoughts on this, and what steps should America be taking right now?

There’s a PDF floating around with a whole thread on the coronavirus—over 2,000 posts deep. They’re actually pretty quick about updating info from all over the place and swapping perspectives daily, so you might want to dive in there...

I’m a bit puzzled as to how this ended up in the politics section, especially since we aren't really debating conspiracy theories here. Almost everyone stays focused on the actual medical facts rather than speculation, so I'm not sure why I'm being singled out... 😁

Does anyone know where I can grab some masks online here in the States?

Everything’s probably gone south by now. And don't get me started on those basic surgical masks; they aren't doing squat if you aren't protecting your eyes too.
At this rate, we'll all end up like the Fazlinović family, DIYing masks out of old tarps.

I tried posting this in the politics section, but they scrubbed it immediately. Just focus on boosting your immunity, because sooner or later, you're gonna run right into this virus anyway.

Oregano oil or some Citrofit can help when dealing with rare viruses.

Check out the stuff on Corona virus and Vitamin D from Dr. Cicero Coimbra. If his therapy can pull someone out of a grocery cart, it can probably give your body a fighting chance against a virus.

Make sure to turn on the Subtitl in English.

Think about it this way: a mask isn't really a shield for you to stay healthy; it’s more like a courtesy to make sure you don't pass anything along to someone else if you're already under the weather. ☕

It really seems like it has to be that way. Just a little bit. I’ve been wondering about something. Why would doctors advise transplant recipients like us—who are already on immunosuppressants and steroids—to wear N95 masks whenever we're in a hospital setting, especially during flu season or in crowded places? If we aren't carrying a virus ourselves, we don't have anything to pass on to others. It feels like we're just protecting our own health.
It just needs to be securely fastened so there isn't any wiggle room.
Even a small amount of protection is certainly better than none at all. While that logic applied perfectly to the flu and other seasonal viruses, there's still debate regarding its effectiveness against COVID-19—though some doctors suggest even a little bit might help. Ultimately, it comes down to the basics: making sure your mask fits securely, disposing of it properly, and keeping up with frequent handwashing. It’s just like any other preventative measure we already know works.

Anyone know if there are any masks around?

I mean, like those N95 or higher-grade respirators?

Is anyone here actually using vitamin supplements to boost their immune system?

If you’re feeling totally fine, your immune system is doing its job just right.

All this talk about "boosting" your immunity or having some kind of supercharged defense—it’s mostly just noise.

Look, if your immune system is functioning normally and you aren't getting hit by everything, there isn't some magical "next level" you can unlock.

The only thing that actually works is garlic, and you have to use a ton of it ☕
Once that scent kicks in, everyone starts giving me a wide berth 😁
Plus, it’s a pretty solid defense against vampires 👍

If you aren't feeling incredibly hungry, you probably don't need to eat.
That’s the consensus from both the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
The article makes it clear; while the headline might be a bit cheeky, the subheaders really drive home that eating correctly and maintaining a balanced diet is the real secret.
(Though I'm starting to suspect most people just skim headlines these days... we're becoming a society of headline readers! 🤦 )
Essentially, just stick to the basics: carrots, beets, apples, kiwi, fish, meat... variety is everything, provided you keep it moderate.

People read stuff online and totally misinterpret it.

Then you get these guys who think they're invincible—trying to fight everything under the sun because they believe they've got some kind of "super immunity" that'll let them walk around shirtless in a blizzard.

Look, if you aren't dealing with constant stress, depression, insomnia, malnutrition, obesity, or chronic issues—then you’re doing alright!

_Just take your vitamins to keep it that way!

Honestly, you just gotta show up to the meeting, face those guys head-on, and let 'em have it—hands on.

But seriously, why? It’s just basic supply and demand, right? Like, nobody is actually forcing you to buy anything!

Back in the day, they used to give soldiers these injections that basically overhauled their immune systems. My husband suddenly stopped dealing with that nasty chronic bronchitis out of nowhere. Pretty sure I read somewhere it was some kind of interferon treatment. Those guys were practically invincible; they could probably eat a corpse and not even catch a cold.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interferon

I just pop a 25,000 IU Vitamin D supplement once a week and call it a day. Doesn't bother me.

Honestly, you can just DIY your own masks; it doesn't really matter what they look like when you're busy saving your own life.
Here are some ideas for making your own protection. คุ้มมาก ส่งฟรีคร่า
