I have been tasked with preparing a segment for an FBI training session, specifically focusing on "various climbing methods." To be precise, my curriculum includes Swedish ladders, plyometric boxes, pommel horses with handles, and parallel bars. I find myself struggling with how to integrate these elements into a cohesive lesson plan; how does one effectively bridge the transition from one apparatus to the next? I am particularly perplexed by the pommel horse—it feels somewhat elementary for this level of instruction. Since these exercises are often associated with youth gymnastics programs, I am wondering if anyone might be able to offer some guidance? Does anyone have any insights or practical advice on how to structure this effectively? 🙂

Just set up an obstacle course.

Running, jumping onto a plyo box, leaping from the box onto a pommel horse with crossbars, dropping down, sprinting to some stall bars, then climbing up and back down.
Put some mats behind the horse and underneath the stall bars.

Only thing is, you’ll need at least one more box—maybe set it lengthwise at about three feet high—and some flexibility training. Honestly, it’s a total joke how few kids can actually pull off a split these days.

Trying to master the splits is honestly nothing more than a walk in the park compared to the real challenges out there
