I was scrolling through some sports news this morning and it hit me how much of the modern fan experience is just watching high-stakes drama that often leads absolutely nowhere. It feels less like actual sport and more like a soap opera designed to keep us clicking.
I remember back in the day, you’d hear a rumor, maybe a local paper would mention a player might be moving, and then it would just... happen. Or it wouldn't. Now, it’s all these elaborate "pursuits" where teams seem to be chasing shadows, only to pivot or pull out at the last second for reasons nobody can actually explain. It's exhausting.
Half the time, it feels like the clubs are just playing chicken with each other, or using the media to drive up a price, while the actual players are just sitting there waiting for the dust to settle. It makes me wonder how much of this is genuine business and how much is just tactical posturing to keep the fans engaged.
Is it just me, or has the "will-they-won't-they" aspect of the industry become more about the spectacle than the actual movement of talent?
