It’s so late at night and there is nobody left to talk to since everyone is asleep. I felt like I had to start this thread because maybe it will make me feel just a little bit better if I tell someone that I am sad tonight. Really, really sad. 😢 🙂 🙂 🙂

I wonder if happiness actually exists. Are there truly people in this world who are completely happy?

They say it only takes such a tiny amount to be happy... but then why does it always feel like that tiny thing is exactly what we are missing? 😕

There’s just no proof that luck exists as this independent concept—like some kind of invisible entity wandering around deciding who gets a break and who doesn't. It isn't a mystical force; it's just the byproduct of various life factors and pure randomness (by which I mean things happening that we simply can't predict or control).

Are there actually people out there who are "completely happy"? I highly doubt it. Maybe if someone lacks those massive ambitions or that constant itch for "something more," they could pull it off. But look, wanting more is a good thing; it’s what drives us. If we were all easily satisfied, we wouldn't be human, and we certainly wouldn't have made any progress as a species.

I don't know what's weighing on you, but if it helps at all, you aren't alone in feeling this way.

I can’t help but wonder if happiness actually exists, like, are there even any truly happy people left in this world?

They always say it only takes a tiny bit of luck or a little something to be happy... but if it's such a small thing, why does it always feel like that's the one thing we're all missing...😕

What's eating at you? Why the sadness? Everything can be fixed eventually. Just let it out and share what's going on with us. It'll make you feel better.

Are there actually perfectly happy people? I doubt it, maybe just those who don't have huge ambitions or that constant craving for "something more." Though, wanting more is good, I suppose. It drives us forward. If we were all easily satisfied, we probably wouldn't be human or have progressed this much.

I don't really know why you're feeling down, but if it helps at all, you aren't alone.

well, I guess I'm just sad because it feels like I need that one "little thing" just to feel happy right now... honestly, it's complicated.😢
anyway, thanks for understanding...

Actually, maybe you should ask what isn't bothering me instead.🙄
I suppose I feel a little better now, knowing there are still wonderful people out there.🙂

Honestly, I’m not really here to dive into whatever is weighing on you right now; I just came by to indulge in a little bit of myself... 😬

anyway, thanks for hearing me out...

Happiness really just comes down to the choices we make and how we deal with the chaos around us, even when everything feels like it's falling apart. I spent way too much time looking for fulfillment in other people, but eventually, it hit me that it’s all internal—it’s about what I decide to build out of my own life and who I want to become.

I don't know if that actually helps you, but that's just how it is.
Some questions just don't have answers, and sometimes you just have to sit with the uncertainty and keep moving forward, no matter what's weighing you down. 😉

After venting all that out, I'm gonna go light up a cigarette and try to wrap my head around what I was actually trying to get at here... Hang in there, Ines !!!!😉

I guess I don't know if that helps you, but... maybe it does.

Well, looking at what you wrote, there's definitely some truth to it. 😉
Actually, thinking about it now, I think maybe you might be right. 🙄

A while back, I actually pinned a set of rules to my wall—personal guidelines I tried to live by, thinking they might lead me toward some kind of... I don't know, near-perfect happiness...

here they are:
1. Don't fight who you really are or try to change your core nature.
2. Stop putting up with people who just drain your energy or mess with your head.
3. If a situation sucks, just get out of there; don't waste your breath trying to fix something that isn't worth it.
4. Even if you're feeling lonely, don't go out and settle for just anyone.
5. If you're spiraling into a depression, force yourself to get up and leave the house; staying stuck in bed just makes everything feel ten times worse.
6. Stop overthinking every little thing.
7. Surround yourself with people who are basically perfect, 99% of the time... or whatever.
And honestly, looking back at that post I made on the Lonely Hearts forum, I’d add an eighth rule: if you run into a guy who’s way too rational, just run the other way as fast as you can...

Anyway, my nightly routine is pretty much just sitting there before sleep, running through all the good things I actually accomplished during the day and mapping out what else I can do to be better to myself... it helps drown out the negativity and keeps me calm...

That’s about as close to actual happiness as any of us can get, and the rest of life just sort of falls into place from there...
I hope this helps you out somehow, but I've gotta go tackle this project I need to finish tonight...😉

here they are:
1.Don't fight your own nature or who you are.
2.Don't put up with people who bother you.
3.If you hate a situation, just leave; don't waste time, because you won't change anything.
4.Don't hang out with everyone just because you're lonely.
5.If you're feeling depressed, get out of the house; don't just stay in bed, or everything will feel worse.
6.Stop overanalyzing things.
7.Surround yourself with people who are basically perfect. etc.
And maybe I should add an eighth rule based on what I posted on the Lonely Hearts forum: if you see a guy who is too rational, just run as fast as you can.

As for me, before I go to sleep, I guess I analyze all the good things I did during the day and make a plan for more positive stuff I can do for myself, so I can push away negative thoughts and feel calm.

That's probably the kind of happiness a person can reach, and I suppose everything else just falls into place.
I hope this helps you; I have to go finish something tonight.😉

hey, these rules are actually great, but😉
😘

You must belong to some kind of charity group for people who just can't catch a break. I honestly don't get how you can feel so much empathy for someone you haven't even met...🤔

You know, some people just have this innate sense of empathy and actual understanding for others, and honestly, it shouldn't be that hard... you don't exactly need to run a massive non-profit like the Red Cross just to show a little bit of basic human decency to the people around you...
Sometimes you just have to go through the absolute wringer to actually get it... those heavy, soul-crushing moments that leave their mark on you, and once you've been through the fire, you start seeing everyone else through a different lens... whether you know them or not, you just recognize that look in their eyes because you've lived it too...
And if you could actually step up and offer some constructive advice for once, then do it... that’s what people call being decent, you know, having an ounce of actual humanity left in this world...

I don't know about all this luck business. You either have it or you don't—call it fate, destiny, or whatever else you want to call it 🙂 but it feels like I've been missing out on my fair share my whole life, haha

Sometimes, you go through your own share of hardships, and those experiences give you a perspective that helps you relate to everyone else, whether they're strangers or close friends, simply because you've been there too.
And if you have the chance to offer some helpful, constructive advice, you should take it—that's just what being a decent human being is all about.

Thanks for such a thoughtful and thorough response. Maybe I'll manage to dig up a little bit of that humanity in myself after all. 🙏

p.s. Honestly, some people could really use an intensive crash course in sarcasm...😛
