Drug Analysis Discussion

So, we have this medication here sold under the name Gammalon. The generic version is Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid. Around here, it goes for about $70.

A buddy of mine actually brought back what’s supposedly the exact same stuff from China—the label says Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, but everything else is just Chinese characters... and apparently, over there, it only costs about ten bucks.

Lately, all the news outlets have been freaking out about how the market is being flooded with counterfeit meds and all that nonsense...

Long story short, I'm just wondering if there's any way to get a lab to run an analysis on it, just so we can be absolutely certain that it's the real deal?

Hey Google, from what I was able to quickly check, that stuff isn't even available here—it’s not even on the FDA's approved list... so, who's actually the manufacturer of the stuff you're buying over there for $70?

In my opinion, that one could be just as much of a fake as this one is for $3.25...

If you’re really curious, I know there's an independent forensic lab open somewhere in Chicago—you should track them down and see if they'd even run an analysis (I'm guessing they'd need plenty of HPLC / MS, since it's such a tiny molecule). Just don't be shocked when both results come back showing it's basically 99% filler...
