Does anyone know an eye doctor in the US who actually knows more about this than just handing out artificial tears? I’ve seen three different specialists now—including one at a high-end clinic that felt a bit too "fancy" for my liking—and all I've gotten is a super brief explanation. To make matters worse, one doctor actually tried to correct me by saying tear film consists of two layers instead of three. Apparently, the only solution is artificial tears, and they didn't even bother with any standard diagnostic tests for dry eye.
So, has anyone else dealt with dry eye where the doctor actually performed a real test? I'm talking about things like checking how long it takes for dry spots to appear on the eye or examining the edges of the eyelids and stuff like that.
