I’m not sure if this guy is worth a discussion, so I’ll just throw it out there.
In my book, he’s a top-tier musician.👍His playing and vocals are both phenomenal. His live shows are absolute perfection.😁

I’m really digging him lately... I've had "Slow Dancing" and a few tracks from that latest album on constant repeat. 🙂He’s got such an incredibly smooth voice—it's actually quite relaxing, if you're into that sort of thing, haha. 🙂

As a guitarist, he’s nothing short of phenomenal; my only real gripe is that he doesn't seem to have much of a catalog of his own original songs. Personally, I find his covers to be much more impactful—for instance, I actually think his take on Bold as Love is even more powerful than Jimi's original version.

I think those three tracks I listed above are absolute gems. I’ve heard mixed things about the others, though. Still deep-diving into his discography to see what sticks.

As far back as I can remember, the "Heavier Things" album has always felt like a massive bore, though I'll admit "Continuum" is a bit more tolerable.

I feel the exact same way

John Mayer is easily one of my favorite artists. I actually write songs myself, and man, his songwriting is top-tier. The lyrics have so much depth, and personally, I just love his music. His voice doesn't bother me at all—sure, it can be a little much sometimes, but most of the time, it’s totally fine.
My absolute favorite track has to be Slow Dancing in the Burning Room. Half of My Heart is a close second.
He’s got so many hits too—No Such Thing, Gravity, Daughters, Something Like Olivia, Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey, If I Ever Go Around to Living... honestly, everything he touches is brilliant.
I also love his covers, especially when he does Bruce Springsteen's I'm on Fire and Free Fallin'.
I definitely agree with what someone else mentioned earlier about him being at his best during live shows. That's when he really finds his groove. The way he works that guitar is just incredible.😁

I think Continuum is a solid album. Gravity and Slow Dancing... those two are top-tier.

That song by Katy Perry you’re all obsessed with... skip. It’s a total snooze fest, and the track itself is even more mind-numbing.

I guess you only actually listened to the song because of Katy. Real fan behavior there, I suppose.🙂

That’s just how Mayer’s stuff goes, I guess. His music is always more about the instruments than heavy studio production, which is why everything he does feels so laid back and mellow. If anything, Katy probably just leaned into his specific style since she was only there as a guest.

When I first heard this track, I thought it was a bit of a snooze. But once I got into a certain headspace where I just needed something chill, it actually worked wonders for helping me unwind. Unfortunately, after looping it a few times, the novelty wore off and now it’s pretty much fallen off my radar entirely.
