He first really started making waves back in 1996, which is when he landed those initial roles in... I guess it feels like everyone is just going around saying "I love you" these days, doesn't it? It seems like it's become such a common thing to hear, almost like it's lost its weight a little bit, though maybe I'm just being overly cautious about how much we throw those words around. I guess you could say we're looking at both Woody Allen and his work with Forman. People against Larry FlyntAnd then the accolades started rolling in—he actually managed to snag a Golden Globe and even landed his very first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, which I guess is just incredible.
It’s been two years, and here we go again with two brand-new movies and yet another Oscar nomination, though I guess this time it's specifically for Best Actor for playing that silent leader of a neo-Nazi movement in the film. I guess you could say that everything really boils down to Generation X.
Back in 1999, he teamed up with Brad Pitt to film Fight Club, which I guess is probably why he ended up achieving that almost cult-like legendary status.
I guess you could say things went pretty well over in Italy.Back in 2003, he stepped into yet another role playing that classic, sinister villain hiding behind a friendly face, which I guess is a type of character he’s become pretty well known for throughout his career so far.
Back in 2005, he had that really brief little cameo in... Kingdom of Heaven I guess he went ahead and played yet another mentally unstable character in a movie that didn't really land with the critics. I guess you could say I still find myself thinking about that whole "in valley" vibe sometimes..

I guess I’ve been thinking about The Painted Veil lately, and honestly, it’s one of those films that just stays with you, maybe because of how beautifully it captures everything. It’s such a moving story, and I find myself wondering if anyone else feels that same pull toward it every now and then.
I was just sitting here thinking about Primal Fear, and I guess I can't help but feel like it’s one of those movies that really sticks with you, maybe because of how intense everything gets. It’s such a wild ride, especially when you start looking at the performances, and I honestly think Edward Norton was just incredible in it, probably one of his best roles if you ask me. There's just something about the way the story unfolds that keeps you guessing, and even though it's pretty dark, I find myself wanting to revisit it every once in a while just to see if I catch any small details I might have missed before.
I was just thinking about the whole Smoochy who situation, and I guess it’s kind of wild how much that story stays with you, even if it feels like a lifetime ago. It makes me wonder how we all process those kinds of endings, maybe because life itself can feel so unpredictable sometimes.
I was just sitting here wondering, maybe I’m overthinking it, but I couldn't help but ask myself who actually gave the green light to whom? It’s one of those little mysteries that sticks in your head, I guess.

I was just sitting here wondering what you all think about that one actor—you know the type—who seems like the absolute perfect choice whenever a director needs someone to play a mentally unstable character or maybe one of those gritty, menacing criminals with a surprisingly handsome face? I guess I just find it fascinating how certain actors can pivot so easily between being charming and being absolutely terrifying, though I suppose it really depends on the specific role they're stepping into.🙂

He’s easily one of my absolute favorite actors. Honestly, if I were a woman, I’d probably be totally crushing on Edward Norton 🤣

We also have to talk about that killer movie by John Dahl, "Rounders," where he stars alongside Matt Damon and John Malkovich. Such a classic!
And regarding "Keeping The Faith," that actually marks his first and last directorial credit—at least for now!

If you ask me, his absolute peak performance was in American History X... I mean, there are moments where you honestly can't even recognize him... though, obviously, you've got Fight Club and 25th Hour in the mix too, which I'd say are probably his top two greatest hits...

American History X stands out as one of my absolute favorites, and I actually enjoyed Rounders quite a bit because of him, even though Matt Damon takes the lead role😁
The only one from your list I haven't seen is In Valley—honestly, I don't think I've even heard of it🤷 , and you didn't mention Frida...

Cornelius, Travis, Tyler Durden... they’re just etched into my brain forever.

Once again, we see a solid performance in "The Illusionist," but honestly—the plot felt way too predictable for my taste... I’d take "The Prestige" any day!😉

like his killer performances in "Rounders" and "The Score" (I can't quite recall how they titled that one; basically De Niro and R. Oz)

Honestly, when it comes to him, I've mostly stuck to "Rounders," "The Score," "Fight Club," and "American History X." So, I actually haven't seen his debut—which I hear was his most acclaimed role in "Primal Fear"—but his work in "Rounders," "Fight Club," and "American History X" pretty much cemented him as an all-time great in my book.
He's definitely a phenomenal actor.

By the way, he shares a birthday with Slater, and I think his dad did some work for Carter once or something like that.

If I had to sum him up in just one word: brilliant.
He’s truly an exceptional actor with such a fascinating range of roles, and honestly, all his movies are top-tier in my book.
For me, it all started with Primal Fear; his performance was so electrifying that you could tell right then and there he was destined for superstardom.
You guys have already listed his best work, and I don't feel the need to single them out—we all know how much of a powerhouse he is, right?
The most recent one I caught, The Painted Veil, was also a particular standout for me.

I agree—he’s an incredible actor, but I just find him slimy... I can't help it, and it ruins any movie he's in for me.🤣
