Hey everyone, I could really use some advice...
We’re thinking about hiring Maroon 5 to play at our wedding. We really want a band that can keep the energy up and keep the party going all night long. Has anyone here ever worked with them, or maybe been to a wedding where they were the main act? What are they actually like? How late do they usually play, and do they take long breaks during the set?
I'd appreciate any insight you can share.
Best,😉

Hey everyone! This is my first time jumping into this thread, so sorry if I’m asking something that’s already been "covered" extensively. Basically, I'm on the hunt for some Gypsy musicians—you know, the kind who can really get the party going after midnight at a wedding. I've been scouring the internet and Googling like crazy, but honestly, I haven't found anything useful yet. Does anyone have a lead or some info that might help? Oh, and just so you know, the wedding is happening in July down in Miami. Thanks!

Alex Reed2, a buddy of mine has a wedding coming up in April and he’s looking to hire some Roma musicians... they'll be traveling all the way from the Midwest to Florida for a bit of cash... it's just how things work out in certain parts of the country here...
I'll hit up my contact tomorrow and let you know😉

In case you guys missed the memo, there's a brand new banquet hall over in the business district near San Diego that can hold up to 300 people—pretty massive if you're planning something big. It’s at this place called Stone Grill, and honestly, the vibe is top-tier. They're doing a full spread for about $30 per person, all-inclusive, and they really lean into that high-quality, home-style cooking feel where everything actually tastes fresh rather than mass-produced.

So, I’m finally jumping into the fray to weigh in on this whole band debate you guys have going on. If you need a recommendation, check out Amadeus out of San Diego. These guys absolutely kill it at parties; they play just about everything, but don't expect any cheesy pop stuff from them—not a chance. They bring their own top-tier sound system, pro lighting, smoke machines, bubble machines, and all those other effects. They play purely for the love of it and won't stop until you tell them to. Their setlist is killer, too—once they get moving, there are zero breaks unless the catering crew calls a timeout.

I actually attended one of their gigs once. Honestly, they’re talented musicians, but it felt like they were just playing for themselves rather than the crowd. It was a massive event—around 400 people showed up—yet the dance floor looked pretty empty.

Oh man...😲
Wait, how does that work? I thought they were known as that band that plays all night long, sets the vibe, and actually gets people moving??🤷
Ugh... what are we supposed to do now??😢

Since only one person actually replied to your question—and that same person was busy pitching a band from San Diego🙄 I wouldn't take that info too seriously if I were you.

Thoughts on a certain pirate

Restaurant:

The Pirate Ship in San Francisco. It was $42 per person, which covered unlimited drinks—beer, wine, sodas, and all kinds of coffee whenever you wanted. The food was top-tier, and I have to say, the service from the waiters was excellent.

Music:

The Bambino Band. I don't know their exact rate, but it’s a five-piece band plus a vocalist. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The singer was just terrible, and they really struggled to set any kind of mood.

There were about 110 people there, which I suppose is the maximum capacity for The Pirate Ship.

The local musicians who showed up:

Three guys: an accordion player, a guitarist, and a singer. They were fantastic entertainers, and I’d recommend them to anyone—you won't regret it. Their price was $667. They started playing at 1 PM and didn't stop until they reached the church around 6 PM. They played for the groom, then the bride, and finally out in front of the church. They only stopped when the couple actually started walking into the church. All credit to them. They played for five hours straight without a single break, and the crowd was singing along to everything. They can play whatever you ask for; I was genuinely impressed by them.

Honestly, I wouldn't be getting worked up either, but lately it feels like the negative feedback is coming at me from everywhere, not just this forum. Before I started talking to them—the Maraschino Band—I only ever heard good things... but regardless, thanks for saying that. It really helped.😉

Man, I'd pay $100 for a singer like that to go for 5 hours...

Mark Hughes8 said:I have a quick question... has any girl here actually gone wedding dress shopping down in San Diego? I’m trying to figure out if the prices for renting or buying a gown there are somewhat comparable to what you'd find in Miami. I actually spotted this one specific dress on the Los Angeles bridal site, but they don't carry it in Miami, so I'm wondering if it's even worth making the trek out to Los Angeles🙂.
Also, if anyone could give me a heads-up on rental prices at the big Miami salons, I'd appreciate it—I'm terrified I'll walk in there and have a literal heart attack when I see the price tags...

God, what have I gotten myself into...

Look, I'll give you a comparison between the big city and Wide Bridge: renting my own dress back in the city was $1833 (and that's only because it's an older style; the newer ones go for about 6-$2333), whereas in Wide Bridge it's $1000 (with the new models running around $1167).
