wanderingbadger17, thanks 😁

Look, details make the difference. If one cannot perceive the details, one cannot truly see the difference. If I were to begin explaining to you how much it matters to me that the carpet is a certain way, or that I require WMF cutlery, or crystal glassware, or how I care about the fabric of seat covers—how I prefer upholstery that doesn't feel cheap, or how I dislike dry-painted walls, or how much I value that red carpet leading from the hotel entrance to the ballroom, or even how much it matters to me that the person I am negotiating with is someone I can trust... plus excellent food and service... perhaps this sounds trivial to some. However, everything carries its own price and its own clientele. For me, discussing the cost is somewhat questionable because banquet halls and hotels simply aren't comparable. It is akin to comparing a long-sleeved shirt to a tank top. Both are shirts, but there are differences; one uses more material and its execution is more expensive, while the other is cheaper, and that is that. It stands to reason that someone seeking a more formal affair will choose a hotel, whereas someone looking for a budget option will seek out rental halls, and that is all. One cannot simply claim a hotel is expensive; in my view, it isn't expensive considering what it provides.

By the way, the garage isn't at Joker; it's underneath the hotel.

And regarding those pirate-themed parties, I attended an event about three years ago when the generator kicked in and we were without power for an hour or so... the AC was terrible, the room was shaped like an L, and those at the bottom couldn't see a thing happening up front. The floor tiles were wet, which eventually turned into a muddy mess. In my opinion, it was quite poor, but perhaps that is what someone wants and they will happily pay 40 bucks for it. I am not wealthy enough to purchase cheap things. Good luck.

Look, none of that matters to me! What matters is having a clean hall, an awesome band, good food, and solid service. We can drink out of glasses from $2.00, or just drink straight from the bottle for $2.00, and I can always fix the decor myself. That stuff isn't my priority. If it's yours, fine—go for it! 👍

Quincy:
btw the garage isn't at Joker, it's under the Hilton
Gosh, I didn't even say the garage was under Joker 🤣
You said having a closed garage was a plus, so I mentioned that I actually prefer an open one! Then I used the ones at IBM and Joker as examples! 😁

Quincy:
as for Pirate's, I was at a party there when the generator blew and we were without power for like an hour... (this was maybe 3 years ago), the AC was terrible, the room is shaped like an L so people at the bottom can't see anything happening up front, and the floor was so wet it basically turned into a swamp... personally, it was a disaster, but maybe some people want that and will happily drop 40 bucks on it... I'm not rich enough to buy cheap things .........good luck
Don't get patronizing with me now! 😬
I was at Pirate's recently, and there was no wet floor, no swamp, and the AC worked fine. It got hot, sure, but that's what happens when you're dancing on a packed floor! I've been to plenty of summer parties where it gets warm once you start moving. Of course it's going to be hot!
The food there is top-tier and the service is great. My only gripes are the L-shaped layout and the capacity limit. But they have a terrace you can step out onto, a view of the ocean, and a huge parking lot near the dorms... for 42 bucks, it's honestly a steal! 😁

As for the pirate theme, I went to a party about three years ago when they had a generator failure and the power was out for an hour... (this was a few years back)... the AC was terrible, the room layout was awful—they put us way in the back where we couldn't see a thing happening up front—and the floor tiles were soaked, which eventually just turned into a muddy mess. In my opinion, it was pretty bad. But hey, maybe that’s what some people want, so they’ll go ahead and drop 40 bucks on it... I’m just not wealthy enough to settle for cheap experiences... good luck.
New owner, new manager, everything runs flawlessly now...

I don't think my wife would even consider a pirate theme if it wasn't high quality... she wouldn't... 🙂

The AC was actually great; we had a party in August and it wasn't just comfortable, it was insane how cool the room stayed even though it was packed... the AC works like crazy...

And that whole thing about the floor being a mess? That isn't on the restaurant. It depends on the crowd you invite and the state of your bathrooms, etc. They aren't going to clean the hall in the middle of dinner just because people are acting wild and making a mess...
Anyone who thinks it's okay to vomit or act like an idiot once they've had a few drinks is going to do that anywhere...
The fact that the room was tidy (which really comes down to the guests) is thanks to the hostess, whose dress barely got messed up despite it being long and dragging on the floor...

And as for the view, the terrace, and the overall vibe... we don't even need to get into that...

Paul Morales12 said:Wait, when exactly was that sale happening? I’m starting to wonder if that $60 price tag was actually just for the pizza alone—maybe they didn't even include the wings in that total?!
So, some friends of mine over in England are planning a little getaway for next summer—they're looking at August, I believe—and they’ve actually booked a huge party for themselves! They’re paying about $78 per person, which is quite a chunk, but hey, that includes all the drinks, so it's a pretty solid deal in my book. They did their homework, though—they checked out Saint Croix as well, where they were offered a rate of around $49. They aren't being picky eaters or anything—not at all!—they just want our classic, standard menu. Honestly, sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to go, right?

The BBQ was back in June😁

Does anyone have any inside info on Re Di Mare in Savannah? We're planning a huge party for about 100 people and we are still hunting for the right venue... if anyone knows anything about their food, how the service is, or what the damage looks like price-wise, please let me know. Also, I was looking into the restaurant at Forest—it used to be called Forest, but I think they renovated it recently and I can't remember the new name... does anyone know if they still do full catering/events or if it just turned into some fancy lounge bar now?

Has anyone here actually dealt with DJ Double? Or maybe someone's worked with Double-man? What’s his deal like?

I mean, I know people listen to all sorts of country music, even some Thompson tracks, which I'm totally down with, but for the life of me, I can't find a decent playlist of his stuff anywhere...

Listen—one of those legendary radio hosts and top-tier entertainers is key here. To me, that matters deeply because just playing songs isn't enough to set the right vibe at a wedding. If the DJ doesn't say a single word during the whole party and fails to connect with the crowd, then they aren't a real wedding DJ (and believe me, there are plenty of them).
His setlist is really up to whatever you negotiate with him—but if you're hoping he'll suddenly pivot to playing country music, you should probably look elsewhere. He won't touch it; that's where he draws the line and will tell you straight up.

Yeah, I know he doesn't play any country music, which is exactly why I was looking for him in the first place, but I just haven't had the chance to catch him live yet.

And then—either they hiked up the prices for next summer, or they just think they can fleece us because we're Americans
hey, please—can you double-check if that $55 price actually included drinks?

Since I am absolutely, 100% thrilled with every single decision we made for our wedding, I wanted to share my excitement with all of you—hopefully, some of this might come in handy for your own planning!

We held the celebration at Atlantic Airways, though most locals just know it as Wagner. They served a buffet-style meal, and based on the sheer joy of our guests, I can safely say the food was phenomenal. Everyone we spoke to was raving about it; it was a mixed menu featuring fish, meat, shrimp, various pâtés, octopus, truffles, pasta, calamari, prawns... 🙂
The weather couldn't have been more perfect, making the atmosphere out on the terrace absolutely breathtaking. 😍

The entertainment was provided by The Beach Boys, who were even better with the addition of a vocalist and a saxophonist. In short, 🙏🙏🙏

As for my Hairstyle, it was done by a wonderful stylist from the Dream salon. I brought along a photo of the look I wanted, and she replicated it down to the very last detail—honestly, she did it even better than the picture! 🙏

Ingrid Bergman handled my makeup, and she was such a lovely woman—so confident in her craft, incredibly patient, and quite simply, she has magic in her hands. It was an incredibly hot day, and I certainly didn't hold back when it came to singing and dancing, so my face felt like it had melted about six times before the ceremony even started, yet my makeup remained flawless 🙏 thanks to her.

So, that’s the gist of it! 😬 If you need any specific details, please feel free to send me a private message; I would be more than happy to help. 😉

Nicholas Hernandez7 _ so who was your photographer?
I actually got an offer from the National Endowment for the Humanities—way too pricey :-), and then one from Avi—even worse! :-) So now I'm hunting for some cheaper options that still look decent enough 😂

Papaja Studio is absolutely perfect!!!
I previously posted about them in the Photographer and Videographer thread, but honestly, you should just browse their work on Facebook; the photos truly speak for themselves. 🙂
By the way, Nikola (who works at Papaja Studio) used to do work for Matić, and I even heard that Matić recommends him personally whenever he's booked up.

Taxi Band—these guys are actually great. They don't play that typical country stuff; they cover pretty much everything else you might want, including international hits. There are five of them, and they can bring along a female vocalist if needed. My personal recommendation.

I asked... yeah, the $55 included drinks (they were coordinating with some guy named Mario—the head waiter)

sssnena - hey, can you give me a quote for Papaya? Also looking for Bravo Band's rates. Feel free to DM me if that's easier! thanks 😁

Quick question for everyone: has anyone here ever done a banquet at Aria in San Francisco? It used to be Kokolo. They have a new owner now and have been running since May of last year. They seem pretty solid, but I don't know anyone who has actually eaten there. We're planning a big feast and I just want to know if the food was good, if the manager was decent, all that stuff. please help 🙂 😁

As for the band: right now it's basically a toss-up between Barbara and the major leagues. One is high quality without breaking the bank, while the other is absolute genius but pricey. I've heard great things about Bravo Band, though—just don't know what they charge! 😁
