Hey, does anyone have any good catering recommendations in Indianapolis?

Also, has anyone ever heard of John Maranovic?

Apple Studio is way too far out of my way—I really need to find something closer to home in Indianapolis.
The only place I’ve heard mentioned is Studio 54, but their Facebook page is pretty much a ghost town... nothing but a handful of photos.
As for the makeup work, it looks $40... 😢not to sound repetitive, but I’m genuinely worried it might be a case of you getting exactly what you pay for.

Well, for my own wedding, I ended up booking Great Clips (even though Indianapolis is actually closer to me, it's not like I'm driving across the country or anything). I'm getting both my hair and makeup done there... honestly, I was torn between them and Studio 54, but I went with Great Clips because everything they do just looks way more natural to me.

Listen, I’ve actually got a few quick and easy ways to save you some cash if you're looking for them...

I have to tell you guys about this amazing little flower shop called Aloe over in Savannah—honestly, their arrangements are absolutely stunning and they aren't overpriced at all! I actually ended up hiring them to do some floral work for me recently because I just couldn't get enough of their style. If you're looking for something special, you should definitely go track them down on Facebook!

If you're looking for invitations, you seriously need to check out invitations.org. Honestly, their prices are super reasonable, and they even have some great deals running on certain designs right now. Plus, if you can't find exactly what you're looking for on their main site, don't sweat it—they’re actually pretty cool about custom orders and can whip up something specific just for you. It's definitely worth a look!

If you’re looking to pick up some rings, you should definitely check out that jewelry shop over in Savannah—Daka’s. Honestly, if you’re willing to pay in cash, you can pretty much negotiate just about anything. They're super flexible with the pricing if you handle it that way; you can actually get the price dropped quite a bit if you play your cards right!

If you're hunting for the perfect wedding dress, honestly, you have to check out Nicole's place—it’s hands down the best bridal boutique around. I was just chatting with a friend about how stressful finding "the one" can be, but seriously, her shop makes the whole experience feel so effortless and special.

Honestly, you can just wait until Vartek has a big sale. I’ve seen stuff coming in from Canada that’s actually better quality than what you'd find elsewhere, and I guarantee it. It really wouldn't be worth your while to buy something that looks cheap in photos when the price difference isn't even that significant. You want to look sharp, not like you're wearing a costume!

When it comes to photography and video, I’m telling you, nothing beats a solid zoom—it honestly works wonders. There’s just something about being able to pull that shot in from a distance that makes everything feel so much more professional and impactful.

The band is actually pretty great—they aren't asking for an arm and a leg to book them, either. They’re super versatile and play everywhere, plus they have a female vocalist, though I'm not entirely sure if she's a permanent fixture or just a guest for certain gigs. They're from Savannah, obviously, and they've got that classic SiriusXM vibe going on.

If you’re looking to get your hair done, I honestly can't recommend the Simple salon over at Walmart enough... they really know what they're doing. And if you need someone to handle your makeup too, just talk to them—they’re hands down the best in the business for that kind of thing!

I really should do some more digging into the cookie situation, but honestly, my mom was insisting that the absolute best ones she’s ever had came from a little bakery in Memphis. She made this claim that their cakes look like they were professionally drawn or something—just perfectly executed. I actually left all the heavy lifting regarding the planning and organization to her, so I'm not entirely sure what the specific names of those treats are yet, but as soon as I track them down, I'll let you know!

I just checked out their Facebook page... and honestly, it looks pretty good.
Do you have any other recommendations for the Indianapolis-Memphis area?
And how far in advance should I probably book?

Look, being totally real here, I only found them because they do both hair and makeup (and having it all done in one spot is huge for me), but there's probably plenty of others out there... As for my big day, 🙂 I booked way ahead of time since I've got another wedding this month too, so I figured I'd just kill two birds with one stone and get it over with. But yeah, I'd say two months out should be plenty of time.🙂

Regarding that suit—honestly, you could probably pick up something from Vartek on sale, maybe even something imported from Canada, which I’d bet is actually better quality. It wouldn't exactly be the best look if the photos make the suit look cheap, especially when the price difference isn't even that significant...

I suppose you can't really judge or guarantee anything about something you haven't actually seen firsthand. We actually visited the Vartek shop ourselves and the sizing just didn't work for us. However, over in Canada, we had a tailor who specializes in sewing Vartek-style models using high-end fabrics; he custom-fitted our trousers one size and the jacket another to get the perfect fit. That way, it doesn't even look like it was cheaper.

Yo, if anyone’s hunting for the cheapest drinks around (St. Louis, Memphis, or Indy), hit me up in the DMs for the hookup. Their beer is like $0.80 cheaper—and other drinks are way lower by 1 to $0.67 compared to places like Applebee's or Chili's. Not an ad or anything, we just really dig this guy.

We had the exact same issue with those Vartek suits! The pants were fine, but the blazer sleeves were way too short, and when we went up a size, the jacket hung down to our knees! They don't really carry many stylish, slim-fit options—it's mostly just basic classics...

I also wanted to chime in regarding Galileo. Last summer, they had a massive 50% off sale, so for $400, we picked up a full suit, a shirt, a tie, and a belt—basically a "buy three, get one" deal. The belt ended up being free since it was the cheapest item in the bunch! You honestly just have to wait for a big sale, and then it's an absolute steal. 😁

I was chatting with a woman who recently got married over in Indianapolis—she had absolutely stunning makeup done—and she mentioned the salon was located in Indianapolis right near that old local spot across from the pub. Apparently, that space is up for lease now, and she’s not quite sure if they moved elsewhere...
Does anyone happen to know which salon she’s talking about or where they relocated? I'm looking for a guy, maybe around 35...

I know there's an unnamed studio around there, but that isn't really right next to the diner—it's actually a street over on Shakespeare Ave, and some kid runs it. Might be what you're looking for.

I don't recall any hair salon being right next to that diner specifically.😕

Well, that’s how she described it to me. I've only lived in Indianapolis once in my entire life, so I can't really speak to the layout... 😁
Anyway, the girl looked absolutely stunning—seriously, I've seen the wedding photos and knowing her how she usually looks, I can tell you that transformation was a total ten out of ten!
I'll ask her if it might have been at that unknown studio...

Honestly, I'm not even sure if they did hair there... 🤷 but I heard makeup at Studio 54 goes for about $150... though I don't know if that's accurate. A friend of mine went there for her hair, and I think she paid around $150-$200... I'll ask her again and let you know for sure if she remembers. Her hair turned out perfect, really elegant and classy... just exactly what I wanted. As for the makeup, I also heard they offer trials $17... and if you end up wanting lash extensions, then it's probably another $17 I think... on top of that $150. Man, I'm overcomplicating this 😂

Honestly, this whole search is starting to get under my skin 😬 so I’ve decided to go with Studio 54. Given how close the date is, the girl there told me to call back in two months to get on the books. I might have mixed them up with another salon, but I think she mentioned makeup was around $120 or $150, which sounds like a total steal to me. I’ve been scrolling through their Facebook photos, and I really love their work. My plan is to go all out—makeup, hair, and lashes.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me, and I really want to look my best.
If $167 everything goes smoothly, I'll actually be happy with the result. Right now, I'm looking around Washington, D.C., because I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding, and over there, they charge upwards of $300 just for the makeup alone 🙄

Does anyone have recommendations for a great place to get a formal wedding hairstyle that isn't Studio 54? They happen to be fully booked for my date... and if you have any leads on makeup artists too, I'm all ears 🙂

Has anyone been dealing with Studio 54 over in Indianapolis lately? Specifically that area near Springfield heading toward Chester?
