Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing wonderful...
I’m starting this thread because my mom has been dealing with some health issues lately... and honestly, I'm starting to get pretty worried about her. Just felt like I needed to get this out there and maybe see if anyone else has gone through something similar...

My mom’s been feeling pretty wiped out for about a week now... just total exhaustion and this lingering malaise. She’s also been running a low-grade fever, maybe around 99 degrees. On top of that, she’s been hitting the bathroom constantly—getting up multiple times throughout the night—and there's this sharp stinging sensation whenever she goes. She went to see her doctor, and they ordered blood work and a urinalysis. Her blood counts actually looked mostly fine, though her white cell count was a bit elevated. Interestingly, her CRP was super low, only about 0.3, and she isn't showing any signs of anemia, plus her iron levels seem solid—around 17, if I recall correctly. But the urine test showed blood, and the doctor mentioned something about "two stones in the kidneys," though I’m not entirely sure what that implies exactly... Since then, we sent the sample over to urology to check for bacteria. A few years back, she dealt with a bladder infection that turned out to be caused by Unknown, and the tests were positive back then. So, my big question is... is it possible for a urinary tract infection caused by Unknown to trigger this kind of intense fatigue and fever? 😕

She was prescribed a course of antibiotics—Unknown, 14 tablets total... just one in the morning and one at night. She finished the whole seven-day stretch, but honestly, the progress has been minimal. I mean, she feels a tiny bit better, but that pain around the bladder area is still there, and there’s that stinging sensation whenever she goes... plus, the fever hasn't budged at all. She’s heading back to see the doctor tomorrow for a follow-up, some blood work, and a urine test. It’s been three days since she took her last dose of the Unknown, though... we were away for the holiday weekend...

I have to admit, I’m getting a little worried about her... those headaches she gets are frequent, and honestly, they seem pretty intense since they cover her whole head. And then there are those dizzy spells—she gets hit with them if she stays on her feet for too long. It’s tough to watch... Looking back, she was in a serious car accident about twenty years ago. She was incredibly lucky to make it out alive, but she ended up with some heavy spinal injuries and permanent damage to her cervical vertebrae. Ever since that wreck, she’s been dealing with migraines and vertigo... though things shifted a bit four years ago when she had surgery in Venice. After that procedure, the dizziness actually cleared up, which was such a relief, but the migraines just haven't let up since. Plus, she's going through menopause now, which could definitely be playing a role in how she's feeling... hormonal shifts can be so unpredictable. She did have an MRI done following that surgery, too...

I’m starting to get really worried... because it feels like everything is just hitting her all at once... She’s dealing with this constant lethargy, and her legs just feel weak, like they're giving out under her... On top of that, her white blood cell counts aren't looking right, and those dizzy spells have come crashing back after that surgery... They hit her in these intense "attacks," where the world just spins for maybe three or four minutes straight, accompanied by this crushing headache... She also mentions that the pain in her right arm and leg is much more pronounced than on the left side... And regarding her vision, it actually started fading quite gradually about five or six years ago, which is why she needs glasses now... It's just a lot to process...

I’m only bringing all this up now because a friend’s mother actually passed away from brain cancer... she went through a very similar situation. It was heavy... really tough. I’m just hoping that maybe someone here might have more insight into these specific issues... if they could offer some kind of guidance or help...

So, my mom is 52... she’s got that deeper, tan complexion, you know? She weighs around 155 pounds and, well, she smokes... but she doesn't touch alcohol at all. Not even a drop...
I’ve been checking my blood pressure pretty frequently lately... it usually hovers right around 125 over 80. Just a bit on the edge, I suppose...

Things have been pretty rough between me and my dad lately... honestly, it’s been weighing on me quite a bit. I can't help but wonder if what he's going through might actually be depression, especially since he's been breaking down in tears so often over all of this... it's just hard to watch...

I'm really hoping someone here might have some insight on this... if anyone knows the ropes, I could sure use a little guidance on how to handle things properly...

It’s highly likely Mom is dealing with a severe bladder infection, and if those bacteria have migrated to her kidneys, they could enter her bloodstream. We're talking about the risk of sepsis here. If she hasn't shown any signs of improvement by now, she absolutely needs to head to the ER immediately. If the infection has already become systemic, she's going to need heavy-duty antibiotics and potentially an overnight stay at the hospital.
I find it hard to believe it's a brain tumor. A nasty bacterial infection can cause all of these symptoms. Once you clear the infection, things should settle down. Otherwise, following a head injury, people often deal with lingering headaches or migraines.

Just wanted to check in,
So, she finished a seven-day course of Augmentin, and then was put back on another seven days of the exact same thing... making it fourteen days total. She’s wrapped up the medication now, but honestly, there hasn't been much improvement at all.
She had bloodwork and a urinalysis done after that first week, and her white blood cell count looked normal—and while the blood in her urine had decreased, those tests were from right when she was still on the antibiotics, so I wonder if the Augmentin might have just masked the symptoms a bit...

The thing is, she’s still dealing with this intense pelvic pain. She actually went to see her gynecologist yesterday; they did a full exam and everything came back clear, though we're still waiting on the results from a Pap smear. She has an appointment with a urologist this coming Monday. Her temperature is still running a little high, too... she's sweating through her clothes at night quite often, which means constant changes of clothes... plus, there's still that burning sensation when she pees, and she's just completely exhausted.

As for the headaches, they're pretty hit or miss... sometimes they're pounding, other times they're more manageable. They usually hit both temples, and she's feeling some ear pain on both sides, though it's more noticeable on the right. No dizziness, thankfully, and that neck pain actually subsided for a little while... She doesn't wake up with a headache, and her appetite seems fine for now.
