Flirting in the DMs

What’s the standard protocol when people start flaming and trolling you via DM?
Is it always the same crowd that just got slapped with a temporary ban moments ago?

If I report this user right now, is there actually a rule that allows for a permanent ban following such an irritating and obnoxious incident? If not, why on earth not?! ☕
It is glaringly obvious that certain people have a fundamental issue with this forum. I don't see why they only get temporary warnings. If they find value in being here, why the hell are they allowed to use private messages to harass users for no reason whatsoever?!

btw....does the fact that the forum rules are so lax and tolerate these types of people mean the platform is essentially encouraging and protecting toxic behavior and toxic users?

Is this actually possible to do? Who would be the appropriate person to contact regarding this—should I reach out to the moderator or perhaps a site administrator?

Just put them on your ignore list.

But yeah. You can report them. Now... whether there will actually be any consequences is out of my hands; that's up to the admins.

Fine, I’ll report that user. But honestly? I’m going to feel like an absolute idiot doing it if someone who spends their time privately flaming people gets slapped with nothing more than a few minor warnings or points—as if they just made a small mistake in quality. A decent public debate..
No. He’s a sick individual whose only ambition is to post garbage privately just to troll people. Pure, primitive flame baiting.
Admins should just hand out permanent bans to people like that without even asking. It’s common sense. Or am I wrong? 🤷

From what I understand, the admins take a much harder line when it comes to blatant harassment via private messages. You're usually looking at anything from a week-long suspension to a couple of months, if my memory serves me right. If they keep it up, they'll be hit with a permanent ban pretty quickly. There have even been cases where people reported abuse to the authorities. In fact, one individual was actually reported to the police for making serious threats.

Just report those kinds of PMs...

Fortunately, I don't get dragged into those "intense" debates where people start waving Confederate flags or hammer-and-sickle symbols instead of knives. I'd rather stay far away from any serious legal trouble. 🤣

So, I filed a report on this guy, only to realize he hasn't been banned at all. He’s still out here running wild on the forum... 😕

Do the admins need two or three weeks just to remember their login credentials? 🙂

Just hold on a bit. The admins aren't glued to the screen 24/7. They have lives too—maybe they took a trip with the family or something. Once they see the report, they'll act (assuming it's valid). It can take a few days from the report to the actual penalty.

As if I could just spam someone's inbox and the admins would immediately jump on it. That would imply they're lonely losers with zero life outside of being active on this forum 24/7 just waiting to react... 😬 😁
