Since flu shots aren't mandatory under U.S. law—unlike certain other vaccines included in the national immunization schedule—you are more than welcome to share your personal thoughts and stances here regarding whether or not you choose to get vaccinated against the flu. This thread is also intended as a space to discuss indications and contraindications (basically, who should get the shot, who shouldn't, and why), potential side effects, vaccination techniques, where to go to get vaccinated, and so on.

However, please note that CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARE NOT ALLOWED. This includes claims such as "vaccines are poisoning you," "vaccines contain toxins," or "vaccines are meant to wipe out the population." Any posts containing these types of assertions or similar rhetoric will be deleted and may result in sanctions!

Thanks for understanding.

I'm 20 years old. Am I eligible to get a flu shot? Are there any specific requirements?

If you're looking to age prematurely, hey, be my guest! Seriously—go getting that "flu shot" two or three times a year! Haven't you heard that Alzheimer is on the rise? Just wreck your brain and your immune system... That "flu vaccine" is packed with mercury (the most toxic non-radioactive element out there, way worse than arsenic), formaldehyde (a carcinogen), and a whole bunch of other "spices." Plus, they're often useless because viruses mutate constantly, so the strain in the needle might not even match what's actually going around. And even if it does match, there's zero guarantee you won't still catch the flu.

If you're actually that terrified of the flu, just change your lifestyle instead: start eating healthy (cut the sugar, go low-carb—if you absolutely have to eat bread, stick to whole grain and keep it minimal, skip the pasta and rice, avoid pasteurized milk, cut back on caffeine, and load up on fresh veggies) and get moving (hit the gym or something)... and that's pretty much it. If you do happen to get sick, just ride it out. Drink tea with honey instead of sugar and take some Vitamin C...

Sure. The real question is, is there even a point...

It seems like there are still folks out there who think grains are actually good for you (especially vegetarians, they really fall for that one)... But honestly, grains and other staples like potatoes or rice? They act pretty much like sugar—they spike your insulin, and that's where a lot of chronic health issues start. We’ve touched on this before in older threads like this one. If you want to really dive deep into the rabbit hole, head over to http://www.mercola.com and search for grains (that's the general term for stuff like corn, rice, etc.). You'll find plenty of articles there making a very clear link between grain consumption and chronic disease. Definitely check out grain-free diets too...

Easier said than done.😬

Everything is going to be just fine... I get my shot every single year and it works great for me 🙂

The only thing is you might run a fever for a day or two after the jab
And that's really it........

This opinion is pretty extreme.

There is simply no reason for someone to develop a fever from that vaccine. These two things are essentially unrelated events.

Extreme? Maybe. Wrong? Not necessarily...

If you don't look out for your own health, nobody else is going to do it for you. Has any doctor ever actually sat you down and explained that those "flu shots" might contain mercury or formaldehyde? Has anyone warned you about what those chemicals can actually do to your system? It’s honestly sad how most people just blindly follow whatever their doctor says—as if they're still practicing medicine based on textbooks from twenty years ago...

BTW, I forgot to mention that mercury builds up in your system. So, if you're getting jabbed every single year, you're just stacking more and more mercury inside you. 😢 And every year, you end up with fewer living brain cells! 😁 😢 Since that mercury is accumulating, you run the risk of developing various autoimmune issues. And the worst part is: the illnesses triggered this way are usually chronic—unless we're talking about a mercury allergy, which I haven't heard of much, though some people have it. By the time you realize something is wrong, it's often too late and the damage is already done. Like Alzheimer... you don't even realize it's creeping up on you, and by the time you decide it's time to start living healthy, it's almost too late.

I’m telling you right now, I am never, ever getting a flu shot.
Honestly, whether we're talking about mercury, aluminum, or formaldehyde, none of that sounds even remotely safe to me, so I'd much rather just steer clear of the whole thing entirely. And don't even get me started on doctors—I don't trust a single one of them.

Alzheimer's is linked to high levels of ALUMINUM buildup!!!
not mercury, you newbies!!
mercury works in a completely different way.....
*claps*

hehehe 😁 So what exactly is this "completely different way" mercury works?

The researchers experimented with mercury levels that are similar to or below those levels of mercury found in the brains of humans with mercury/silver amalgam fillings. To date, no other material or metal tested, including aluminum, has produced even remotely similar reactions, according to Professors Lorscheider and Syed and student Christopher Leong, the authors of the study.

In 1997, research conducted by Lorscheider and others at the University of Kentucky and University of Calgary demonstrated that mercury vapor inhalation in rats produced a molecular lesion in the brain, similar to a lesion seen in 80% of human Alzheimer's-diseased brains.
(source). There's plenty more about this on the net—just use Google if you want to dig a little deeper.

Here's an article from Medline "Increased blood mercury levels in patients with Alzheimer's Disease".

My son got vaccinated one year and it didn't do a thing for him.

Personally, I don't see the point in vaccinating. You should focus on strengthening the immune system naturally—diet, exercise, and so on—so you're actually prepared when a virus hits.
As mellowbadger8 said, I don't trust doctors at all!

I only skimmed the abstract... It’s clearly a cross-sectional study, so you can't draw any conclusions about causality from it. Even the authors themselves just refer to it as a "correlation."

If I recall correctly, elemental mercury isn't actually toxic—it's the mercury salts that cause the real trouble.

As for formaldehyde, the body can metabolize it, provided you stay within a reasonable dose, obviously.

I don't see any clear link here to autoimmune diseases.

So, I was wondering, have you guys gone ahead and gotten vaccinated yet? And honestly, do you think it’s even worth it if you're still young😁 and feeling totally healthy?

Let me jump in here with a few more questions—can I actually get the shot if I’m feeling kind of under the weather? Like, if this is even the flu (honestly, who knows)... it's just that my nose is running a bit, and my throat gets this weird sensation—it's not even really "pain," more like this constant, nagging tightness that comes and goes, I don't even know how else to put it... and lastly, I don't think I have a fever, but I haven't checked, and I don't feel hot or anything, so I don't know...
Advice please.😕

Honestly, that shot didn't do a damn thing for me—I ended up catching a brutal case of the flu anyway. 😠

Like, maybe it isn't full-blown flu, but I’ve got a runny nose and my throat feels weird—not exactly painful, just sort of tight or scratchy, if that makes sense. Also, I don't think I have a fever, but I haven't actually checked with a thermometer and I don't feel particularly hot either, so I'm just not sure...
Any advice?😕

If I remember correctly, I had a cold that same week and couldn't get my shot until I was feeling better. You should definitely check in with your doctor first.
