I was making a sauce for lunch and used a chunk of butter, only to realize after cleaning up the mess—fingers, plate, bowl, you name it—that it was actually moldy and spoiled. It wasn't even expired; I just bought it today. I feel so incredibly clumsy. 😠 😠 Anyway, now that I'm reading about mold poisoning, I'm feeling pretty anxious about how this might affect my physical well-being and my inner peace.

What should my next move be?

Should I try to make myself throw up? 🙂

Maybe the mold wasn't the dangerous kind? Perhaps since I only ate a tiny bit, it won't cause any real issues?

edit: It turns out I consumed Aspergillus mold. What should I do now? 🙂

Is there a doctor available here? I’m feeling quite unwell; it feels like my fungal infections are staging an all-out invasion of my internal organs, moving everywhere at once.

I don't think you need to sweat it if you used butter in a sauce that actually got cooked.

But the issue is that I add the butter at the very end, so it just gets stirred in and then taken off the heat!
I'm not really looking to swap recipes right now; I'm more like, am I going to die? 😕

In all seriousness.

Hmm...? Well, if you're asking me, I'd say you'll be just fine.

Are you saying that because you actually know about this stuff, or are you just trying to cheer me up?
And what should I even do now? Just wait around for symptoms to show up?

So, what’s the plan? Just pick the color of the mold you're dealing with and Google the fix:
a) red spots: Serratia marcescens
b) red or reddish-brown: molds like Fusarium or Penicillium
c) pink spots: Torula rosei
d) black spots: various molds and Pseudomonas nigrefaciens

a) red spots: Serratia marcescens
b) red and reddish-brown: molds like Oospora, Fusarium, or Penicillium
c) pink spots: Torula rosei
d) black spots: various molds and Pseudomonas nigrefaciens

Thanks.

They were black spots, and there was this "musty" smell. I'm just now realizing it, and I feel terrible.

I suspect it might be Aspergillus. http://tehnologija.wordpress.com/200...ogija-maslaca/

Should I head to the doctor right away?
Do you think inducing vomiting would help at this point? 👎

Seriously, just hang tight for a second so we can see how this plays out first.

Keep checking in every thirty minutes or so to let us know what's happening. Oh, and definitely send some photos if you can!

🤣

But hey, if you're already freaking out this much, just call 911.

I suppose checking in every half hour would help us track things. Maybe some photos could be useful too.

🤣

If you're feeling this panicked, maybe calling 911 would be best.

I think you'll be fine. 🙂 In this situation, I feel it might be better to assess things first. And maybe try not to mess with people who aren't facing a life-or-death crisis.

It would be absolutely wonderful if a doctor could chime in.

Anyway, it mentions that invasive Aspergillus can be dangerous for people with weakened immune systems, and I'm hoping mine stays strong—though I haven't been eating much garlic lately, and now I'm starting to regret that.

WOAH, CALM DOWN FOR A SECOND!!!!

Do you honestly think nobody has ever eaten mold before? 🙄

Think about it—if you have some jam that’s gone fuzzy and you just scrape off the top layer and eat the rest, you really think you’re safe? You’re dead wrong!!! The second you can see it with your eyes, it means there's enough of it to have spread through the entire container.

And what then?! NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!

Besides, if you ever snack on peanuts and bite into one that tastes bitter or looks discolored on the surface where it started to sprout, just know you might have consumed the most toxic mold on the planet! We're talking about the deadliest toxin ever discovered.

And guess what! It's not like there's a specific tribe out in rural Africa that lives almost exclusively on peanuts, which is why they end up with tumor rates 500 times higher than people who moved away from those areas!

That kind of stuff is genuinely concerning, not some "nonsense" that you just swallowed blindly!!!!!

For me, this isn't just "useless trivia"—it's actually my livelihood, because... well, these little details are basically my bread and butter. 😍

I didn't just eat it; I actually inhaled it while sniffing that stinky butter!

Aspergillus niger is probably less likely to make people sick compared to other Aspergillus species, though I suppose inhaling a massive amount of spores could potentially lead to a serious lung condition called aspergillosis.

Hey, don't get all worked up, you’re really not going to die or anything. I mean, I’ve honestly eaten moldy stuff several times myself. Okay, fine, it was just some bread, but whatever. And that whole thing with the jam... 🤣 👍

Just knock back two shots of high-proof bourbon; that should do the trick.

I mean, alcohol kills microorganisms and we use it for disinfection all the time, right?😕

Haha, it’s not exactly neurotoxic mold, is it? 🤣
Diagnosis: hypochondriac.
You'll be fine. I eat mold regularly; the stuff growing on my parmesan is actually the best part. And if you want a reality check: at the grocery store, once the cheese starts looking blue, they just wipe it down with some oil and put it right back on the shelf. 😉

Well, there aren't any symptoms yet, anyway. I have to admit, I'm feeling a little disappointed.

Don't you worry one bit, you’re gonna have some serious runs by tomorrow morning, and by lunchtime, you can totally forget all about your little moldy "adventure."
P.S. I really hope you've got plenty of toilet paper on hand😬 😬 😬 !!

It’ll be a bit 🤮+☕, and then we can have 🙂 for dessert. Then they go after the seller, demanding cash, compensation, out-of-court settlements...

As if they actually manufacture penicillin from scratch. You get a sore throat and suddenly you think you've discovered a miracle cure.

And here I was thinking that I was actually the one with the hypochondria issues... 🤮

My dear legend,🤣 why are you acting so frantic?

You really ought to start considering all the different places she might be spreading her influence—the very environment where we catch her scent... and then you'll find yourself begging Michael Jackson to sell you one of those signature bells of his. 👍 🤣
