Hey there. I’m looking for a simple little tool to help me out with my games. Honestly, I’m just getting pretty lazy about constantly swapping physical discs in and out of my PC drive, you know? I feel like I heard someone mention a specific program a while back that handles all this, but the name is totally slipping my mind right now. Does anyone have a solid recommendation for what I should be using? 😕

😕
So, what exactly is this game supposed to be doing?

Honestly, Benjamin King2, you’re missing the bigger picture here...

Why don't you give Daemon Tools a shot?

Go with PowerISO if you're running Windows 7—or maybe Daemon Tools? Personally, Daemon Tools just wouldn't work for me on Windows 7.

And what about the legendary Alcohol 120%!!

Or just go with Alcohol 52, which is actually free software.

So, I went ahead and installed Daemon Tools, but for some reason, it’s just not doing what it’s supposed to do. Like, it's just sitting there being useless. Is there something else I need to grab to actually make this thing work, or am I just missing something obvious?

Nothing else is needed.

This might sound a little bit silly, but I was just wondering... how does this actually work?

🤣 Perhaps it would be wise to create an image of that disc first...
Try using PowerISO... or maybe Alcohol 😂
And only then should you attempt to mount it using one of those programs mentioned earlier...

It's one of those situations where everything seems like it should be working perfectly fine, yet the installation just hits a wall every single time I try. So, I was just sitting here wondering—do you think we need to pull in any more pieces for this, or are we pretty much good to go?

Benjamin King2 said:Honestly, I don't think we need anything else at all.

😂🤣😂🤣 Man, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time... that one hit me right where it hurts! Honestly, let's just get it all out on the table now so nobody can claim we missed anything or start making things awkward by dancing around the subject. 😂🤣

You don't need anything else.
...it's been quite some time since I've laughed like that... completely shut down at the root... just so no one can bring up all those requirements and turn it into a taboo subject.

😁 😁 😁 aaaaaa 👍

If I had to sum it up in one word: PowerISO
—it handles the integration of all those different image formats, like ISO and NRG, effortlessly.

Basically, you just make copies of all your CDs—you know, create an image file using Nero or whatever burning software you have lying around—and then you load those images into a virtual drive program. If you're using Daemon Tools, just hit F1 to pull up the help menu; it’s all laid out right there for you.

I suppose I agree, though I still find myself thinking that Alcohol 52 is probably about 120% better than Daemon Tools—it might be a bit more intuitive for him, I guess.

Not sure if you managed to get it sorted out already, but honestly, you usually have to tweak the settings in Daemon Tools a bit to get it behaving properly. 😁
Go into the settings and look for the middle option in the left-hand menu (it should say "Integration" if your software is set to English). From there, just check all those little boxes. Those things listed—like MDS, MDF, ISO, B5T, and so on—are basically just the different file formats you want this Tool to be able to mount.
