General anesthesia: What medications are used?

Are there certain medications that shouldn't be mixed with general anesthesia? I have an upcoming surgery scheduled, and I’m currently taking Zyprexa and Lamictal. To be honest, I'm considering keeping my psychiatric history under wraps when talking to the doctor; I really don't want them looking at me through a different lens just because I've dealt with mental health struggles in the past.

That’s a pretty brainless move if you ask me. You seriously need to tell your anesthesiologist exactly what meds you're on before they even start prepping you.
I mean, unless your goal is to have some kind of disaster happen mid-surgery because you kept your mouth shut—like, I don't know, failing to wake up or slipping into a coma. If that's the vibe you're going for, be my guest.

There is no need to be aggressive toward her if she feels uncomfortable discussing her medications, but transparency is vital. Even if these specific drugs don't interact with anesthesia immediately, they play a crucial role when deciding on a general anesthetic—especially if there are any elevated liver enzyme levels to consider during recovery...
A competent physician will view these medications just like any other prescription and won't judge you. If they do hold a prejudice, that is simply a reflection of their own lack of professionalism...
