George Dalaras

Does anyone actually listen to him? I go through these phases where I won't touch a single one of his songs for months, and then suddenly, I'll play them back-to-back for days on end. I have a few Greek friends, and his music is an absolute staple at their parties, especially during celebrations like Easter. Around here, most people mostly know him through those covers involving Dugmet and Bregovic, but he’s actually worked with some heavy hitters too: Sting, Grönemeyer, Paco de Lucia, di Meola, and plenty of others I haven't even heard of. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever get the chance to catch one of his concerts, much as I'd love to.
Here is one song that everyone recognizes, though personally, I think his body of work is way deeper than anything Bregovic produced. His reach is much wider, but yeah, they were definitely heading in the same direction for a while.

George Strait is truly top-tier, and honestly, I’ve always had a soft spot for that whole vibe. There is something almost mystical about those soulful melodies, though perhaps that's just because I can't make heads or tails of the lyrics 😲😲 as for that collaboration he did with Barenaked Ladies, I know that entire album by heart... even the parts in a language I don't speak
