Google Chrome issue: Lost some bookmarks after OS reinstall

That’s just how life goes... one day I’m the one giving advice, the next I’m the one asking for it. 😵

Anyway, the title pretty much covers it.
I reinstalled Windows (7 Pro) today, and after logging into my Google account via Chrome, several of my bookmarks have vanished.
The same thing is happening on my laptop, though different ones are missing... while others seem to be duplicated. My passwords are all showing up correctly in the settings, but within the browser itself, there is absolutely nothing.
As my neighbor would say: "It makes no sense at all!"

I’ve tried reinstalling a few times, logged out of every single account, cleared my history, wiped the registries, and so on... but still no luck.

Has anyone else here run into this issue, and if so, did you actually find a fix?

Are you even sure you actually synced those bookmarks of yours...? Because it looks like everything synced up to a certain point, but clearly, it didn't pick up any of your more recent ones...

It’s a joke, really. These bookmark enthusiasts have been saying the same thing for years... Since I reinstall Windows every few months on both my desktop and my laptop, I was genuinely baffled by the mess. My first thought was that syncing the same profile across all my devices was the culprit, but even using a single account yields the exact same result... I even reached out to an old colleague over at Google, but he couldn't make heads or tails of it either.
