I already dropped a question over on the Cybersecurity subforum, but since nobody's bothered to answer... here I am again😁


So this thing started popping up a few weeks back. I downloaded the trial version of Malwarebytes and ran a full sweep on my laptop, but dammit, the same crap keeps happening. Every single time I try to search for something, it just forces me straight to this page 😠. What am I supposed to do about this?

Malwarebytes is still running, scans aren't finding a damn thing, and Safari is definitely set as my default browser!

Look, it’s laying out your choices right there. You can just roll with what it says, or hit "more options" to—I'm guessing—tweak things or shut them off entirely...

Great, I clicked on it, and now suddenly Google is my default search engine when that's definitely not what I wanted 👎
I didn't even touch anything else, it just set itself up automatically 😠just because I poked around in manage options 🙂
The settings don't even give me an option to get rid of Google 🤦, you can edit the URL address, sure, but there's no way to actually delete it... I'm starting to think something is seriously wrong here 🤦

ironcyclist58 Look, I said it the second it became obvious that Google was the search engine being used. I wrote it right then... but all they gave me there was the option to edit other stuff, nothing else 😠

I reset my settings too?

I honestly can't tell if Emsisoft actually did its job or if it was just some settings reset, but ever since that happened, I've got this option to finally ditch Google 🎉
