Goosebumps (2015)

So, they're finally turning those R. L. Stine books everyone grew up reading into a big movie series.



Not expecting anything crazy here. Just looks like a fun little flick for the kids that adults might actually enjoy too.

The only real issue this movie has is Jack Black. Honestly, nothing else...

I'm with you 99% of the time, honestly. He was pretty rough in Community too, but look at The Brink—he actually held his own there.
My bet? He won't be onscreen as much as the trailer makes it look, and the kids will probably take center stage.

Look, maybe he isn't quite at the top tier, but he’s certainly solid, if not perfectly decent.
At the end of the day, for seven bucks, he's still a better bet than Zion Hill, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Ryan Reynolds, or anyone else in that same circle.

Jonah Hill can pull it off whenever he feels like it. That role in Wolf on Wall Street was straight Oscar material.
Jack Black is never gonna touch that level.

I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I still hoped for something—anything—to actually land. Instead, it was just pure boredom. Just endless yawning at these dull CGI monsters that lacked any shred of imagination in their design, their actions, or the story itself.
