Back again with the same old headache. Every time I boot this rig, I get hit with: "Video card is not connected to power supply." It used to be a quick fix—just give the cables on the GPU a little shove and it would go. Now? Not so much. It’s taking seven or eight tries just to get the damn thing to post. Does anyone know where I can grab a decent power cable? Also, I tried hunting down new drivers after the old ones crapped out, but even the updates are hit or miss. Any advice?

Which specific card are we talking about here?

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...x?pid=82&lid=1
or maybe
http://us.hardware.info/productinfo/...3650-agp-512mb
or perhaps
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131097
and so on—there are probably other models out there too.

From what I can see, the extra power comes from either a standard 4-pin Molex connector or a 4-pin floppy connector.
Molex male
Molex female
Floppy power connector

Depending on your PSU, you should ideally have one of those connectors free—so you wouldn't need to buy any extra cables. But, if you're out of available plugs, you’d probably need something like this:
Molex splitter
Molex to dual floppy

Then again, there might be a third possibility—maybe the connector on the GPU itself has been desoldered or cracked, which would cause it to lose power. It might be worth doing a quick visual check on the connections; since it's just a connector and not some tiny microchip, it could probably be resoldered.

This is the card I’ve got.

Here's a shot of it.

From what I can tell, this is the connector.

Looks like one of the wires is pulling loose from the Molex Female Floppy connector. Found the same type of connector sitting loose on the power supply, but I have no clue if I'll screw things up if I try to swap it out.

The connector on my GPU looks pretty badly warped
You can't really mess this up if you have an extra floppy power connector lying around—just swap them out and see how it performs

If you're feeling unsure about the current connectors, maybe just grab a splitter like the one I linked earlier. It turns one Molex into two floppy connectors

edit: Or honestly, just buy that connector you linked in your last post—the one in the final photo

Swapped out the connector and it’s working now. Thanks for the tip.
