A must-watch. Jontra is excellent in the mother role, and the rest of the cast holds up perfectly. M. Pfeiffer is phenomenal. This is easily one of the better films released this summer.

I honestly didn't catch that John Travolta was actually Edna Turnblad. 🤣

The absolute peak of this chaotic mess has to be: Michelle Pfeiffer and that ridiculous little duck. 🤣 ( Honestly, her entire entrance into the scene was just pure comedy. )

I’ve had it sitting here at home for a week now, and I just haven't felt like watching it... maybe I should give it a shot?

Alright, so did anyone actually sit down and watch the movie? Honestly, I let myself get all worked up reading those glowing reviews, and what do I get? Absolutely nothing. Total dud.😳 I’m thinking about heading to the theater this Saturday just to see if it's really that bad.

I caught this at a private screening and then went back for a second viewing just because I needed something fun to watch 😬

So, look—the movie is basically your typical, naive, cliché, overly sentimental American mess. Honestly, it’s right on the edge of being... well, whatever. But despite all that, it was freaking hilarious (to me, anyway) and sooo much fun. Plus, the soundtrack is great, and the casting? Absolutely spot on. You've got Michelle Pfeiffer, John Travolta playing a woman, Queen Latifah being fabulous as always, Christopher Walken being hilarious, James Marsden (our X-Men guy) who was totally brilliant to me, and that teen star Amanda Bynes who is seriously funny in this, along with Zac Efron who is 😍 😍 😍. Yeah, yeah, I'm definitely having a total fangirl moment here, and NO, I am not too old for this stuff... clearly 🤣 )

All in all, it's an entertaining flick with good music and great dancing. You're guaranteed to leave the theater in a great mood with a certain amount of... life energy 😬

Honestly, John Travolta is just on another level.

Think about it—you've got Nikki Blonsky, James Marsden, Michelle Pfeiffer, Elijah Kelley, and Zac Efron all in one place...

It’s a powerhouse lineup, seriously. Everyone involved is absolutely killing it.

Such a fantastic movie... the soundtrack was spot on, the jokes actually landed, and the plot didn't descend into that overly pathetic territory you see so often. Honestly, I was cracking up at every single scene featuring Travolta. 🤣

Personally, I wasn't really feeling this movie. It just didn't land for me. I guess Travolta probably shouldn't have taken this specific role. Michelle Pfeiffer was great, though; that icy persona suited her perfectly, and that Black actor was absolutely stellar. 😍The dancing was solid and the soundtrack was alright...
Overall, it’s fine if you just want something to watch.

The Hollywood Reporter recently covered Travolta's take on the matter, where he responded: "I think the whole world is just so feminine that exploring that femininity through a role like this was a way for me to see if that fact holds true. It was truly wonderful feeling what it's like to be a woman; everything that comes with it. I’ll even admit—rather lazily—that at one point I used to head home from the set dressed in women's clothing and fully made up. I absolutely loved this metamorphosis of mine and I simply feel great. A dear colleague and friend once told me how important it is to be able to step out of the roles an actor plays, but I simply cannot step out of this first female role of mine. I just feel fantastic as a woman. For me, this is a completely new experience and I have to admit I don't plan on returning to my masculine side anytime soon. mistyhound2, I just sat through this a few more times because honestly, I just couldn't help myself!!! 😍 😬 and seriously, the more I watch it, the better it gets—I don't know, I guess I was kind of indifferent the first time since it was my first time hearing the songs, so I couldn't really "get into" it... it's the same feeling as when a song finally clicks after you've listened to it a few times. Each time I watched, the music got better and better, and then the movie itself followed suit.

And yeah, I am totally head over heels for this movie 😍 it just puts me in such a good mood.....
