So, a few days ago this nasty rash popped up on my left hand—totally annoying. I tried dabbing some boric acid on it, which seemed to take the edge off a little bit, I guess. But then I went and used this homemade herbal salve I picked up from a local apothecary, and man, that was a huge mistake. It didn't help at all; if anything, it made things way worse. Honestly, my hands always act up when winter hits—the skin just cracks wide open and stays miserable. I’m basically living in gloves at this point, constantly slathering stuff on just to get through the day. Does anyone actually know a decent cream or maybe a natural remedy that actually works? Thanks in advance.

I dealt with this exact same thing maybe five or six years back. Based on how you described it, I'm pretty sure it's eczema. The good news: it isn't psoriasis. The bad news: it's a massive pain to get rid of. Corticosteroid ointments help, but once you're done with those, you have to keep up with daily creams. And look, I know this sounds weird to say—especially with everything going on with viruses lately—but you really need to avoid soap and dish detergent if you can. It would be best if you had your own utensils and just washed them in warm water without any soap. If you can't do that, you absolutely have to use a heavy, greasy cream that doesn't contain glycerin (Johnson & Johnson is the gold standard here). As for the steroid ointments, they're usually ranked 1 through 4, with 1 being the weakest. For me, the level 3 stuff didn't do squat, but the strongest level 4 worked incredibly fast. The main thing is to apply it as much as possible... like five times a day, and definitely before bed. You mentioned you've been using creams, so check the ingredients. If there's glycerin in there, stop using it immediately. Plain old Johnson & Johnson is perfect. Let me know how it goes in a month.

Did some pushups on my rug and now my junk is itching like crazy. Pretty sure I’m having some kind of reaction to the carpet fibers. Should I bother seeing a doctor, or just hit up a CVS for something?
Also, quick question: I get this redness in my groin area (where the legs meet the private parts)
It's been an issue for years. I’ve been using this old cream a dermatologist prescribed back in the day. I still use it every once in a while, though it might be expired by now. It never really cleared up—either because I wasn't consistent or the stuff just isn't strong enough.
Again, do I need a doctor's visit for this, or can I just grab something over the counter at a pharmacy?
