Handbrake alternatives?

Could someone point me toward a tutorial site (maybe an American one if possible) that explains how to use this software? I've downloaded it, but I guess I don't want to mess anything up by just clicking around blindly.

Handbrake can be a real nightmare when you're trying to deal with subtitle "gluing"—it's one of those things people don't talk about enough, even if you follow every single instruction to the letter.

If I were you, I'd just stick with Any Video Converter; it handles burning SRT subtitles onto DivX files perfectly fine, which means you don't have to go through the whole headache of making a full DVD from your DivX files.😕

Just a heads-up though—don't bother using anything older than version 7.7.

Look, it’s true that things can get messy sometimes. You might run into issues, so I guess you really ought to make sure you're formatting your subtitles properly for every single movie using a dedicated program—something like Subtitle Edit, for example.
I mean, if everything is set up right with the subtitles—and assuming the filename matches the movie file exactly—the player should just pick them up automatically once you load the film. It’s pretty straightforward, I guess. Maybe it works differently on some setups, but that's how it usually goes.

It’s not going to work. You’re probably going to have to just go in and add those subtitles manually.

You’re gonna need an .srt, or maybe a sub/idx file.
The sub (microdvd) format just doesn't cut it—it won't recognize it and the whole thing crashes.

That's why you convert everything to sub/idx and then everything works perfectly.

Can someone give me a hand here? I’ve got this TV tuner card that lets me rip stuff straight to my hard drive in MPG format, which works fine on its own. But the second I try to burn it to a DVD using Nero or some random total video converter, everything goes sideways—the audio starts playing way before the video actually kicks in. Anyone figured out how to fix this sync issue? I really need some help here!

I'm running into a bit of an issue. I can watch my movie and the subtitles work fine, but I'm missing those special characters like accented letters. Does anyone know how to fix this?

How can I set this up so my DVD plays without subtitles? They're showing up in Japanese and I can't get rid of them...
Also, what software should I use to compress it into DivX format?
