The concept of "real life off" has been the standard for ages—honestly, 90% of the posts and threads on this forum or even on Reddit have nothing to do with having a functioning brain. If there's any actual discussion happening with a purpose anywhere, it's over at ŽUD, though even there, desperate housewives seem to run the show.

The forum has devolved into a collection of clones—chronic trolls who just mock anyone they can to drive people crazy. You've got folks like chocobelu and coastalwalker9 constantly falling for every bit of cheap bait thrown their way. Then there's that guy back on the NoFap thread because he couldn't find a girlfriend, so he settled for finding guys who are either straight or gay. Or take yuna, breaking records by falling for "charismatic" types despite having zero common sense—otherwise, she wouldn't even be able to manage a two-word conversation with them.

Not exactly the elite crowd you'd want to hang out with. 😵

Be the change you want to see.
Using PDFs isn't self-service, and a simple change in moderation isn't going to fix everything overnight.

The forum needs to attract people first.
That simply won't happen if the community is being shaped by individuals who contribute absolutely nothing of substance.

You have to invest energy into this forum—you can't just sit back and expect a free ride.
Once again, I want to commend ruggedscout76 for her work over on the US site and what she's accomplished there.
Your approach is the polar opposite of hers.

Just look at the view counts and how many people have engaged with them.

This forum needs more quality people.

I’ve tried starting my own threads before; for a little while, they actually gained traction, but eventually, the momentum dies out—both the willpower of the participants (which is a valid criticism of most members here) and the time required to sustain them.

In my opinion, it would take a massive amount of energy to bring this place back to where it ought to be.
We need a complete paradigm shift—a move toward constructive thinking on this platform.

The worst thing you can do is burden the site with endless complaining without offering a single constructive solution.
It’s pretty obvious that those types of "proposers" wouldn't last a day in moderation.

We have a new moderator, we have a fresh start, and we have a chance to fix things.
There are actually some solid solutions out there (shoutout to ruggedscout76 and the US community) just waiting to be implemented.

But you need the energy to pull it off.
If I were a moderator, I certainly wouldn't have banned Toxic and zeko; instead, I would have given them a chance to prove they could actually contribute something useful.
Unlike Toxic, who hasn't even opened a single public thread on this forum, zeko started this one a few months back: where he uses his typical trolling style to try and entertain people.
The thread is obviously meant for trolling, yet it managed to stretch to eight pages.
If nothing else, the kid at least put in the effort and gave us a laugh—he isn't all bad.

I believe there is real potential among the younger crowd; they just need the right direction.

I really hope Wikipedia never ends up on the moderation team here. I won’t even get into the why—because, like user_name said, it’s easy to tear things down, but nobody ever shows up with actual constructive ideas.
user_name was a fantastic mod, and since he’s gone, I honestly think user_name would step up and do just as great a job.
I have no clue what his actual ambitions are, but since we’re tossing out hypothetical suggestions, I’d pick him as a totally competent choice for a few reasons:
First off, he’s smart and well-read; he actually contributes meaningful perspectives to all sorts of debates.
Plus, his writing style is clear, punchy, and he isn't offensive, yet he always hits the nail on the head.
Third, he’s got a great sense of humor and is genuinely fun to read, so I doubt he’d be handing out bans left and right. Instead, within the limits of our usual banter, he’d join in on the fun without letting things devolve into total chaos or anarchy.
The guy has balance, style, and common sense... I just don't know if he has the time or the desire.

Though, if they paired him with user_name along with the current crew, there'd be no end to the madness.👋

The woman actually followed me—she showed up on another forum where I serve as a moderator, specifically in a thread I started, and she didn't receive a single warning there.

She received a few mild reminders to leave me alone and to note that I had no interest in dealing with her, but none of that was official moderator action.

Every troll falls into a different category; one must distinguish between them and react accordingly.
A troll who just trolls by suggesting someone for moderator isn't particularly dangerous—they mostly just make people laugh.
But those malicious individuals who would aim to block half the forum...
That is a different matter entirely.

It isn't entirely clear to me why you are participating in a public discussion if your primary goal is simply to threaten others.

That loophole is exactly why that 18+ PDF was even able to get posted. I’ll never understand why everyone just moved on from it. Speaking as both a former moderator and a regularforum member, I can tell you that reporting posts actually carries a lot of weight. Plus, if that doesn't work, you always have PZK to flag the issue.
