Hey there. I’ve been dealing with something rather peculiar for a few months now... basically, whenever I’m lying down and starting to drift off to sleep, I get these sudden, sharp jolts in my chest. It feels exactly like those involuntary muscle twitches you get in your arm or leg when you’re finally relaxing into sleep, except it’s happening in my heart, which feels a bit unsettling. I can't help but wonder if the cardiac muscle reacts to relaxation the same way the rest of our body does, or if this is something else entirely. There isn't any pain involved, just these rhythmic jolts, and I'm fairly certain they aren't arrhythmias. I'm 27, currently a college student, and I definitely lean toward being a high-stress person. A few months back, I went in for a full cardiac workup and everything came back perfectly normal. Has anyone else here experienced anything similar?

Yeah, it’s been happening every single day for the last three years... I’ve got cardiomyopathy, a hereditary heart condition. I honestly think that’s why—about two to five times a day, my heart just skips a beat and then thumps hard against my chest. That’s really it. I don't take any medication; some of the top cardiologists in the world told me it’s perfectly fine and totally normal (I’ve consulted specialists in London, the US, and Germany)...

It’s uncomfortable, sure, but I try to just relax and not overthink it. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't...🤷

It’s uncomfortable, certainly, but I try to just relax and not dwell on it, though sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.🤷

My EKG didn't show anything out of the ordinary, and my cardiac enzyme levels are totally normal, so I'm holding onto the hope that there isn't an underlying heart disease, even if I can see how things might not always be that simple. Basically, I'm trying not to stress about it too much.🙂
