Greetings to everyone here! I find myself in rather an urgent predicament and could truly use some guidance...
Every time I boot up my PC, it eventually just freezes up on me—completely unresponsive, nothing at all—and occasionally, the whole system decides to perform a hard reset on its own. I can't even manage to launch any games, and to make matters worse, the monitor starts displaying these strange "colored dots" and visual artifacts

These little dots appearing all over the screen aren't some sort of advertisement, I assure you; they are genuine technical glitches. View on imgur

I am quite at a loss here and frankly don't know what my next move should be.
Much appreciated!

With those kinds of artifacts popping up all over your screen, there's a 99% chance your GPU is dead

Try borrowing a card from a friend to see if the PC starts behaving itself again

What specific GPU are we even talking about here, and did you bother checking the temperatures while this was happening?

I haven't had a chance to take a proper look yet...

So, looking at this, the graphics card is...

Thanks anyway!

To start things off, I’d suggest doing a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers. It might actually be a software glitch rather than a hardware issue—it doesn't hurt to rule that out first, right?

If you want to be 100% sure, maybe try testing the GPU in a different PC

Greetings

I finally made it down to the local Best Buy where I picked up my rig, and they were insisting that the graphics card had completely kicked the bucket. Well, I went ahead and grabbed a brand new one, and wouldn't you know it? The computer is running perfectly now. My sincere thanks to everyone for the help!

Are you kidding me? I mean, there’s no denying it’s an awesome card, but looking at your setup—it looks like you're running an Intel Core i3. That's going to be a major bottleneck for the GPU you just picked up. You won't really be able to tap into all that power, you know?

I’m honestly not even sure if they’ve had that in stock for a few months now. The only chance might be stumbling upon one at some small local corner store, though nothing shows up on Amazon.

pairing a 780ti with an Intel Core i3 is just asking for trouble.🤣

He might have been thinking of a 750 Ti, since that card actually requires a decent power supply. Or he’s just trolling, honestly. 😬

Maybe. A 750 Ti is pretty much the ceiling for that CPU, and honestly, it's a killer card for the price. 😁

I'm running the same processor myself. I'm planning to pick up a GPU soon because my current setup is overkill for what I play, but hey, it's an option. Plus, it's a nice little bonus that it doesn't need a dedicated power cable.

My 400W Dell power supply shouldn't even break a sweat, especially since this card pulls way less juice than my old GTS 450.

I have two PC cases sitting here, and I'm wondering how I can beef one up by cannibalizing parts from the other.

Hold on, let me grab my crystal ball so I can see what's actually inside those towers...

You could've at least listed the specs for both.

Could you perhaps have had the decency to actually list the configurations for both locations?

There’s really no need for a crystal ball, is there? Just strip away all the plastic components and fuse the iron parts together. Crank up the power. 🙂
