Hey, if anyone here actually knows their stuff, could you please help me make sense of this... I was looking for some kind of prescription sleep aid—since things like Ambien and those other over-the-counter options just don't do squat for me—so I asked my doctor for something a bit more heavy-duty. Well, she ended up prescribing me QuickPay 25 mg, one to two tablets. But here’s where I got totally tripped up... apparently, this isn't something covered by insurance for me since I don't have a formal diagnosis for it. So, anyway, I just went with a private prescription $17 and paid full price at the CVS $30. But then, when I started reading the fine print on the medication, I saw that QuickPay is actually meant for treating schizophrenia... and now I'm just sitting here completely confused. Like, I'm not being treated for anything, let alone schizophrenia! I was honestly just asking for something stronger to help me sleep, and nowhere in the description does it say it's for insomnia—it just says it's prescribed for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and that's it. Does anyone have experience with QuickPay? Could someone explain why my doctor would give me this and if it actually works for really bad insomnia? Thanks...

Doctors sometimes prescribe low doses of antipsychotics just to help people sleep. I went through the same struggle with insomnia and ended up on Vera, which is an antipsychotic used for schizophrenia.
It can cause some weight gain, so watch out for that, and you'll probably feel like a zombie until your body adjusts.

Just a heads-up though, they can definitely cause weight gain if you aren't careful, and you might feel a bit like a zombie until your body finally adjusts to it...

Thanks for the heads-up.

Look... just go see a Psychic therapist out in the suburbs. They've seen it all with this kind of medication. If you’re already hooked on standard sleep aids, these could hit you even harder. Better to figure out why you can't sleep in the first place and fix the root cause.
Check out that thread and see.

I've been sticking to QuickPay 25 mg for about a year now to help me crash at night, and honestly, it works like a charm.

Just a fair warning: they can cause significant weight gain, and you’ll likely feel like a walking zombie until your system adjusts.

"Until your system adjusts"? How long on earth are we talking about here?

Look, you aren't going to go schizophrenic from taking that medication. That said, in my experience, it’s pretty useless for actually helping you fall asleep.
I’ve been on it for about two months now to deal with anxiety—not because I have schizophrenia, but because I'm dealing with some heavy depression.
Personally, I find Ambien works way better for insomnia.
