Hi everyone!

So, I'm looking to put together a full setup, including a monitor and all the peripherals, for $3333.

First off, I should mention this is actually a gift for my girlfriend. Because of that, could you please keep the case selection in mind? I'd love something that isn't just a basic, plain box.

The main uses will be AutoCAD and Lumion, plus I'll be doing some gaming on my end too.

I've listed the budget above, and since I can pay via 24 monthly installments, I'm open to suggestions from any major US online retailer.

Whether we go with Intel or AMD doesn't really matter to me—I just care about solid performance.

And since I'm buying this for her, I was thinking maybe I could sneak in a little something for myself too, since we share the space 😁

Is it even possible to aim for a 144Hz gaming experience within this range?

If $333 is going to make a noticeable difference, then feel free to add another $1k to the budget; however, if it won't be a significant upgrade, let's skip it.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your help and suggestions!

Still just the case and the monitor—no peripherals included!

From what I've gathered, Lumion relies way more on your GPU than your CPU. Single-core performance is also the real priority here over multi-threading, so an R5 3600 should be a solid choice.
There’s still some room to tweak things here—maybe bump it up to 32GB of RAM if you feel like you need the extra headroom.

Picking a case that won't leak? It’s basically a total gamble. Maybe she should just pick one herself... 😬

Sorry, I’ve been away for a little while, so I'm just now getting around to replying.

While it's true that Lumion relies heavily on the GPU, her main priority is actually AutoCAD.

As for the look of the case, I tried being a bit subtle about it by scrolling through some options with her, and I realized she's mostly drawn to something like this:

or maybe

Honestly, colors really do matter, right? 😁

Since I'm setting aside $1,000 and expecting a decent machine, I wouldn't mind bumping that up by another $100 or even $200, especially since the monitor is part of the total cost.

So, if possible, could we adjust the configuration to make sure it includes 32GB of RAM? That brings us to our final limit—we've reached the budget ceiling and won't be stretching it any further. $4000 And that's that.

By the way, does it even make sense to think about 4K gaming within this budget?

I'm planning on picking up a PS5 when it drops, so when the TV is occupied, I'd love to plug the console into the monitor. I'm doing the same thing right now with my PS4, so I'd prefer that setup, provided the PC can actually handle 4K gaming.

I hope I've made myself clear, and I really hope this helps! 😁

Acer Nitro VG240YPbiip 23.8" IPS 144Hz, dual HDMI, single DisplayPort...

Total: $3977 adm.hr

It’s been added, and it's noticeably more powerful. Awesome. It’s basically running at the same level as an RTX2070.

When it comes to 4K gaming—it’s a bit hit or miss. You might be able to crank some titles up to solid settings, but most of the time you'll have to settle for at least Medium if you want to maintain a decent 60 FPS average.
That's all assuming we aren't factoring a 4K monitor into this budget... 😁

Regarding the Luminon 2060, it’s a solid card, but if you're looking to tackle 4K gaming, the 5700XT is a much better way to go.
