Hey everyone, I could really use some help here. I'm looking to pick up a new PC and have a few questions
I'm pretty much a total newbie at this, so please go easy on me.
I'm assuming building my own rig from scratch is more cost-effective than just buying a pre-built one, right?
Where would you guys suggest I grab parts—maybe somewhere local in the D.C. area or just stick to a major US online retailer? There are so many options out there and I honestly can't tell if they're all just overpriced junk or if there are actually some solid shops worth using. I've heard about sites like PriceGrabber, but for the sake of convenience, I’d really prefer to get everything from a single vendor.
How much of a headache is it to actually put all the components together into a working machine? In the past, I've only ever swapped out a hard drive, a GPU, and an optical drive on my old setup.
One last thing: can anyone recommend a build for around $3,000$1167? Storage space isn't a huge deal for me; I'd be perfectly fine with just 250 GB. I don't need some flashy, RGB-heavy case either. My main priority is just making sure I can pull a steady 100 FPS in Dota and CS:GO.
Best,
LP Rudolf
