Hiring retirees

Does anyone happen to know the best way to hire a retiree?
Would an independent contractor agreement be the way to go?
Of course, I’m keeping in mind that they shouldn't have to give up any of their Social Security benefits, even though they're looking to pick up some extra work on the side.
I've heard rumors there might be some sort of limit on how many hours someone can work at, say, a local Starbucks or a grocery store?

So, yeah, an independent contractor agreement—but honestly, it’s really just for when you're flying solo (kind of like being your own boss or working a farm: nobody’s breathing down your neck or telling you what to do)

So you can be a retiree selling high-end cookware on a contract basis, but you aren't allowed to work shifts at a local grocery store under that same type of contract??

I heard through the grapevine that retirees might be able to pick up some part-time work—maybe around 16 hours a month—at a local spot like a Starbucks or a CVS under an independent contractor agreement.

So, that would be roughly half an hour a day at most.😬 😬

Ultimately, working for someone else just isn't an option for me.
I have to be my own boss, likely operating as an independent contractor on a project-by-project basis.
