Paul Rivera said:Well, Yaz is made by Bayer, so the price is high$49 (until recently $39, though Bayer hiked prices on several products lately), while Novynette $30 comes from Basel. Both are low-dose pills. With Yaz, you get a 4-day break every month, whereas Novynette gives you 7 days—that's when you'll see your period.
Your doctor likely recommended those specific brands for a reason; it probably depends on your blood work, why you need them in the first place (contraception, PCOS, or whatever), and things like that. 🙂
I'm on Yaz myself and I'm pretty satisfied with it (plus, I guess I just trust Bayer more 😬), and I read somewhere that shorter breaks are generally better.
Qlaira is the newer option from Bayer. The price is currently $40, but I suspect it'll jump soon, just like it did for Yaz and Yasmin. They only have a 2-day break.
It’s all highly individual. Neither you nor your doctor can be 100% certain how a specific pill will hit your system. You might just have to try one, and if it doesn't work out, switching is easy enough. 😉

Maybe look through the older posts in this thread; there's plenty of advice and personal stories there. There are also separate threads for every single type of pill. 🙂
I suppose you should take everyone's experience with a grain of salt, though. Everything is different for everyone, and people react to these things in their own way.

Are you kidding me? Since when?! 🙂

It’s been about two weeks now, I guess. Maybe longer. 😳 I'm thinking about heading to Mexico soon. Everything is half the price there, I guess. Maybe. 😁

They're totally overthinking it. There is absolutely no way I'm multiplying 150 x 12. 🙂
And just like that, I’m starting a brand new blister pack. 😢

Personally, I'd just do 150x6 to make it easier since my guy covers half. 😁Either way. 😱

I'll be heading out to Canada soon too. 🙂

I think I’m going to pick up some Qlair in Canada. Back here in the States, it’s basically the same deal as Yaz, but over there it’s only like ten bucks.

Got a little issue here.
I’ve been on Lindynette 20 for three months now. No spotting so far, and those breast twinges are actually coming from my stomach—my doctor says it’s got nothing to do with the pills. The only thing I’ve really noticed is that my skin has become way, way more sensitive. For instance, I’ll put on some moisturizer at night and feel my face burning for a good two or three seconds. It turns bright red.
And what's been bothering me for the last couple of days is this tiny bit of bleeding, just a dark brown streak on my daily liner. I’m not due for my period for another week. Has anyone else dealt with this? Could it be the pills, or is it something else entirely?

I’ve been wondering, is it actually possible for birth control pills to stall weight loss? Over the last month—right around when I started taking Lindynette 30—I completely overhauled my diet. I cut out all the junk food and started eating smaller portions. Plus, I’ve been hitting the gym regularly for a while now. Based on everything I know about how my body works, I should have definitely dropped some weight by this point, but instead, the scale hasn't budged even a single pound!!! Is it just me, or could these pills actually be the culprit?

Greetings.
I was wondering if anyone happens to know the current price for Yasminelle (I believe that's how they brand it over there) in Canada?

So, since I’m posting this here, I figured I’d just throw a question out to everyone.

Like, say you’re in a relationship, and you aren't working yet—just focusing on college.
When it comes to buying stuff like tablets, do you pay for them yourself, does your boyfriend just grab them for you, or is it more of a fifty-fifty kind of deal?🤷

😉

Fifty-fifty. Everyone I know does it that way, so that's how my boyfriend and I handle it.

Wait, did I miss something? Or am I just staring at a blank screen again—I guess that’s just my luck today. Anyway, what's up? kaže:
It’s happening everywhere—everyone I know is doing it, so I guess my boyfriend and I are officially jumping on the bandwagon too. 😉

Haha, I guess I’ll just have to change things up then—since I’m always the one footing the bill, and I don't even work—so yeah, time for a pivot. 🤦

Hey everyone. Just took the first pill from my second pack of Cilest and I’m feeling weird again. For the entire month I was on them, I was constantly anxious and dealing with terrible nausea. I was throwing up too—not right after taking the pills, but a few hours later. And don't even get me started on the breakouts. I’ve always had acne, but this is different. My face is covered in these huge, painful spots... It feels like during those eight days when I wasn't taking anything, I actually felt better, at least mentally. My period showed up four days after finishing the pack, but the cramps were just as unbearable as they used to be, which is the whole reason I started these in the first place. Everyone tells me to just hang in there for a month or two until my body adjusts, but I'm already thinking about switching to Yaz. What do you all think? Should I quit now or push through to the end of this pack? My only real worry was gaining weight, but this is much worse. I can barely eat anymore because everything makes me feel sick...

Yesterday, I missed my pill by about 12 hours and 30 minutes. Since I only have two pills left in my current pack, the instructions say that instead of taking a break after those last two, I should just jump straight into a brand-new pack. So, I’m essentially following the manual here—does that sound right? Also, the leaflet mentions needing extra protection for seven days following a missed dose. In my case, would using backup protection for just the next seven days be enough to stay safe?

Hello.

I have been on birth control since 2008, starting with Yasmin and later switching to Cilest. I took a break for a few months back in 2010 before resuming at the start of 2011. That hiatus was simply because I wasn't seeing anyone at the time, making the medication unnecessary, though I should note that during those six months, my period didn't occur unless prompted by a gynecologist. Recently, over the last few months, I have noticed a significant drop in my libido; even yesterday, despite feeling the desire and reaching climax, I felt absolutely no physical arousal whatsoever. This leads me to conclude that the issue isn't purely psychological—the drive is there, but the pills are clearly interfering with the physical response. I am wondering if it would be more prudent to take another break or perhaps switch to a different brand entirely. Aside from this, I haven't had any major issues; my libido was excellent on both Yasmin and Cilest, though I transitioned to Cilest because Yasmin left me feeling quite depressed.

What is my best course of action? 😢 I want my libido back.

Yeah, 🙂 go ahead and do exactly what the instructions say.

I’m heading to the gynecologist today to switch my birth control; apparently, according to my partner, my libido has been somewhat lackluster lately. 😬 Since my doctor tends to prescribe whatever happens to be on hand, I have to admit that cost is a significant factor for me. I’ve been spending my time scrolling through various sites trying to track down pricing for different brands, which is frankly exhausting. It occurred to me that it might be helpful if you all shared what you take and how much they actually cost; I could compile everything into a single post so other women can benefit from the information down the road. 🙂 Currently, I’m on Cilest, which runs about $20.

I take Diane, and it doesn't cost anything because it's prescription-only—you just pay the $3.25 copay at the pharmacy. You get a box containing three packs, which covers you for three months.
