Hello.

I have a few questions regarding contraception. I was on Logest for seven years straight, during which time I suffered from frequent migraines. My husband and I decided to try for a baby, so I stopped taking the pill; after seven months off, the migraines have almost entirely vanished. Consequently, I won't be returning to Logest, though I might consider Yasmin. I've been reading about the Mirena IUD online and it seems like a solid option, especially given the cost. Does anyone here have experience using Mirena?

If none of those options work for you, Trinovum probably won't either, as it’s very similar to Triquilar (I've tried both). Following my doctor's advice, I decided to take a break entirely, since it's clear that none of these pills are right for me at this moment.

Well, I’m currently taking a little breather myself, but when I eventually get back into them, I’ve been thinking about focusing on the Trinity nuclear tests this time around. Honestly, I haven't come across a single one so far that felt even remotely accurate to me... everything I've looked at just made my stomach turn...

nimblehound46 said:Hey there! I have a quick question for you all... my doctor recommended I start taking Yaz pills, and I’m supposed to begin the regimen in just a few days. To be honest, I’ve never used hormonal birth control before—this is all brand new territory for me—so I’m feeling a little bit anxious about the whole thing. He mentioned that these are relatively new on the market and that they are quite effective and generally well-tolerated by most patients... but here’s the kicker: the fact that they are "new" is exactly what’s weighing on my mind. It feels a bit unsettling when you realize there isn't decades of long-term data available yet, you know? So, I wanted to check in with this community—is anyone here currently on them? Have you had any unexpected side effects, or perhaps heard any horror stories from friends or family?

Well, I was on Diane-35 for a while, and I didn't really have any issues with those... but now my doctor is telling me to switch, and it looks like I'll probably be moving over to Yaz too.
From what I understand, they are still relatively new to the market, but apparently, they follow a different schedule—you don't do the usual 21/7 routine, it's more like 24/4, and yeah, they're also supposedly helpful if you struggle with PMS symptoms.🙂

In that case, you should probably take a longer break and then try starting fresh. 😁

So, I’ve been on Diane for—well, let's just say they aren't exactly the smartest option out there—about three years now. And honestly? My gynecologist hasn't even once suggested I go in for blood work since I started the pills.
I haven't dealt with any side effects at all—really—I haven't put on weight, my breasts haven't gotten bigger, my face stopped getting all puffy, no acne, and I'm definitely not pregnant 😍
And yeah, it's been three years straight without a break—and without any blood tests to check things. That’s really the only thing that’s bugging me.

Same old story over here... I've been on Diane-35 non-stop for three years now... My skin is totally clear (before this, I seriously had breakouts from ear to ear), and I haven't put on any extra weight at all... But now I've decided to stop taking them because I won't be in the States for a while and it feels pointless... I stopped back when I was 8 months along and was supposed to get my period in January, but it's been weeks and nothing has happened yet 😢 Should I be freaking out or 😕?!

I started taking Diana on three days ago—well, technically it was my third day of the cycle, following a recommendation from Gin. Today, I’ve been dealing with these dull, nagging aches in my right ovary, which has actually been quite enlarged lately; there’s a scar there from a previous surgery, and it feels positioned quite low toward the uterus. Just a moment ago, while I was in the restroom, I noticed some fresh, bloody, mucus-like discharge on my underwear. I'm feeling a bit unsettled by it, so I wanted to ask: what could this possibly be? My period has already stopped.

I want to verify something...
I started on birth control this month... however, I haven't quite managed to get around to performing those blood tests my doctor insisted I undergo🙂)
But after just two weeks, I've developed this heavy, messy discharge... is there a chance this is directly linked to starting the medication?
Is it simply a matter of waiting for the body to adjust to the hormones?
A few years back, when I first went on the pill, I dealt with the exact same thing, though I have this nagging sensation that it feels much more intense this time around...

What are your thoughts?
Keith Thomas21—I suspect you might be dealing with the exact same situation as mine... these side effects from birth control are truly relentless...🙂

So, you haven't actually done any testing yet??? In that case, please don't start taking those pills—you really need to run some diagnostic tests first just to see if they’re even safe for you to use.
What kind of medication are we talking about here?
And honestly, how could a doctor even write a prescription for those without seeing the necessary lab results first?

Wait, were you actually getting regular checkups and blood work done a few years back?

Of course I did... I had them done a few years back, and then again about a year ago when I was on them... my results have always come back fine, which is why she cleared me to start again. Besides, I was the one who insisted on starting once my period arrived.
It's just Triquilar—the one with the lower hormone dosage.
She told me I just needed to redo the routine blood work I usually get, but I haven't had a chance to squeeze it in yet because I was traveling for three weeks. Now that I'm finally back home, the weekend is hitting, so I'm planning to head to the clinic this Monday.🙂

I started out on the pill and had this brownish discharge... I think it's totally normal though

I've been feeling pretty rough these last three days... head's pounding, feeling super weak, and I even threw up the day before yesterday. No fever or anything, just a low grade like 98.6... could this be from the pills? It feels weird that the side effects are hitting me now... I finished my first pack and just started my break yesterday

It’s entirely possible.... I actually just found myself scrolling through the manufacturer’s website for these birth control pills, and they claim all of this is perfectly normal—just standard side effects during the first three cycles while your body tries to recalibrate to the hormones. But honestly, darling, I would much rather endure those physical tantrums than ever have to visit a " way am I pregnant??" website again. 🙂

Exactly... except for the fact that some side effects from the pills can look just like pregnancy symptoms too... 🙂 Oh, that's just my paranoia kicking in...

Hey, just wondering... how much does it actually matter if you take a pill at the exact right time?
So, I started at 3:00 PM, but there were a couple of times where I ended up sipping around 3:45...

Look, I take mine at 9:00 PM, sometimes at 11:00 PM, or even at midnight... honestly, it should all be roughly the same thing. I’ve been on them for three years now—well, as long as I can remember, though my alarm goes off at 9:00 PM—and sometimes I take it right before 9:00, other times much later.
I haven't gotten pregnant once.🤣

I think I read somewhere that you’ve got about a +/- 2-hour window for taking it. So basically, we have a 4-hour window to get that pill down without stressing too much! 🙂

Look, I’m telling you—I’m definitely not, and honestly, you shouldn't be either. When it comes to me, those kinds of things are only ever accepted under very specific circumstances... 😍
