So here's the deal
I'm currently on my second pack of Logest... I'm supposed to take my last pill today before starting my 7-day break
But I'm a bit confused... last night it felt like I had some brownish discharge... almost like my period is starting early... plus my stomach is acting up a little... which feels weird since I still have that one last pill left... technically I shouldn't start until Saturday

Can anyone share their experience and tell me if this is normal? Thanks

Here is another question from my side. I am curious about how healthy it actually is to skip that seven-day break—specifically, whether it’s alright to finish two packs of pills in a row before finally taking the pause.
The thing is, my regular cycle used to last 32 days or even longer, but now that I’m on the pill, it’s down to 24 days. It feels incredibly short to me, and I just can't seem to adapt to the rhythm. To make matters worse, during that seven-day break, my acne flares up like crazy, and a 21-day cycle simply isn't long enough for my skin to clear up again.

And yeah, it actually looks like my period started today...

Could someone please help me out or maybe share their own experience?
Thanks

Here I go again. You guys have more experience than I do. I’m pretty sure someone asked for advice on this exact situation before, but I just can't seem to track down that specific thread.

I stopped taking Logest about a month ago. I’d been on it for maybe four or five months straight. I quit back in September, and my period showed up about five to seven days after I stopped—so let's call that cycle 34 days. Usually, it runs about 31 or 32 days, so everything seemed pretty normal. Now, I need my next period to start by the beginning of November. Any advice?
Here we go again with the long posts => turns out I’ve realized I just can't stand condoms. They drive me crazy. I really don't like them. 😠Maybe I played it a little too safe during this month-long break. I miss that raw spontaneity in the bedroom, you know? Plus, let’s be real—splitting the bill between two people makes everything way more affordable. And honestly? At least with them, I don't end up dealing with a mountain of bloating every single time my PMS hits.

Give me some advice before I call the gynecologist—well, his nurse, actually. I can't stand that woman; she’s constantly nitpicking and being difficult. 😠Seems like I'll get faster advice here without all the constant nagging.
Should I start back up this month, or wait another month before jumping back in? And should I be using condoms for that first month after the break? Did any of you deal with nasty side effects? Also, is my one-month break after five months on the pill really the same as taking a full year off—or does it even matter?

Thanks!

I suppose I’d suggest waiting another month if I were in your shoes, mostly because those breaks—assuming they even bother doing them, though I really don't see the point if there isn't a necessity—usually last about three months just to give your system enough time to actually clear everything out. Once you start the pill, I imagine you're pretty much safe from the very first tablet, especially since those days are non-fertile anyway, but I guess people say that first week carries a bit more risk; so, if you’re feeling particularly paranoid about it, maybe just hang tight through that initial week.
Yeah, condoms are honestly the worst.🙂

A three-month break😁
And you probably won't get your period exactly when you expect it; mine was two weeks late, though it has been longer than that before.

That said, if I were in your shoes, I would first reflect on why I stopped taking them after such a short duration only to want them again now. There are plenty of valid reasons to start, but what were the specific concerns you had against them?

So, I’m on Trinovum—and it’s been seven days since my last pill—but I didn't make it home this weekend (my mistake...) and I haven't picked up a new pack yet. I can grab them over the counter here, so I don't even have a prescription on me. How smart is it if I wait until Friday to start back up, which would be day 10 of the break? That's when I finally get back home... or does anyone happen to know if I can just pick up Contraceptive pills in downtown Chicago without a script? If I don't start again until day 10, how much am I actually cutting into my protection?

Alright, thanks!
And the reasons against were that I ran out of my last pack of pills (with about 5 or 6 left), they’re way more expensive than condoms, and since we're long-distance now, on top of paying for those, I have to cover my monthly bus pass and still try to save up enough to go visit him all the time.155 miles Plus, um... I thought it would be easy to just get back into using condoms...
I actually considered switching to contraceptive injections, but my gynecologist says he doesn't carry them, and I have no clue which doctor might have them available. My only option is to call every single clinic in town.😢

silvercobra, I would honestly suggest you just skip this entire month altogether :/
If you decide to start the pill just a day late, you won't have that full month of protection. Maybe try explaining your situation at a local pharmacy; I suspect they might be able to help you out. If one doesn't work, perhaps try a few different ones.
shadowfox49, I haven't actually heard of anyone around here using those injections, so I really doubt that’s an option in the States. And please, don't play fast and loose with your health like that. Either stay on the pill or don't take it at all—this middle ground you're looking at seems like the absolute worst way to handle it.

Luna, you should either head down to the pharmacy and explain the situation, or have someone at home pick up some pills and mail them to you. 🤔
Shadowfox49, since you two rarely see each other, perhaps it would be wise to make an effort to get used to using condoms. 😁

And in the end, turns out we won't be seeing each other that rarely after all.
So, what am I supposed to do with my entire summer and all these holidays?
Ugh, no way... If I actually had to start using condoms, I’d basically have to start popping some heavy-duty PMS pills just to kill these mood swings. Seriously, I am in such a shitty headspace right now. People around me are constantly pushing my buttons, and there have been a few times where I've felt like just snapping at my professors—which, let's be real, would be a total disaster. 😁)
You can get that injection here in the States too, but you’ll only find it with certain high-end gynecologists. Mr. Pyramid told me I should try to track some down, and a few women on this forum mentioned they’d heard about the shot as well. Someone over on Cybermed noted that while it isn't officially available here, you can buy a larger volume of a specific liquid under a different name for totally different uses—but it's basically the exact same stuff as the "vaccine," and it only runs you about 20 cents.

Hey, listen, I’ve got a bit of a situation here. So, I’ve been on Diane 3 for about three months now. But yesterday, I totally messed up—I actually took my pill a day early. Like, instead of taking today's dose, I just took it yesterday. What am I supposed to do now? Should I skip today entirely, or should I just carry on like nothing happened and take today's dose normally? And another thing... I started taking these specifically to deal with acne, but honestly, I'm seeing zero results. In fact, if I'm being real, my skin looks even worse than before. When am I actually supposed to start seeing some kind of change? Thanks for any help.

Performance usually starts seeing some real improvement after about three months, though if you haven't felt much of a difference by now, I suppose it’s unlikely to suddenly change—which is a bit of a shame, really. If things are truly that unbearable, maybe you could look into Roaccutane, assuming it's actually that severe.
Did you happen to take a seven-day break instead of eight? Well, just carry on with your usual routine; I think the most important thing is simply that you didn't wait too long to take it.

Thought I’d jump in on this topic too.
I was on Celest for four years straight because my lab results always came back fine.
My periods used to be a total nightmare—eight days of heavy bleeding and intense pain—but after the first dose, everything leveled out to five days with almost no pain and much lighter flow.🙏🙏🙏
I honestly thought I wasn't dealing with any side effects until I actually stopped taking them. I've been off the pill for about nine months now.
I don't have a genetic predisposition for cellulite, and I generally eat pretty healthy. Weight isn't an issue for me, and I used to hit the gym three times a week, but while I was on the pill, I developed a massive amount of cellulite that just wouldn't budge.
In these last nine months without the pill, about 90% of that cellulite just vanished on its own. So, my takeaway is that it definitely was a side effect. On the flip side, they did wonders for my cycle; even today, my period stays at five days with minimal pain and light bleeding. Because of that, when I eventually go back on them, I think I'll wait a bit longer just to avoid the cellulite situation again.

Is there any pharmacy where you can just pick up birth control without a prescription? Or am I going to have to roll into the ER, tell them my schedule is too packed to see my gynecologist, and pray they write me a script? Or should I just try to find an urgent care clinic instead of the emergency room?🤷

So, I started taking Logest about six days ago—my very first attempt at birth control pills, which I was hunting for because my period cramps have been absolutely brutal lately. My OB-GYN didn't even bother sending me for any blood work beforehand. But then, starting yesterday, I began feeling these bizarre tingling sensations in my legs. It’s almost like they don't even belong to me. And if I press on them, they actually ache, even though there's zero swelling or anything visible going on.
I was doing some reading online and saw that venous thrombosis can be a side effect of contraceptives. Is it even possible for something like that to kick in that quickly after starting the pill? And honestly, should I be panicking about these symptoms? 🤔
Thanks for any advice you can give.

I’d suggest switching up your gynecologist first, and then once you've established that new connection, maybe bring up those specific symptoms. I suppose something somewhat similar happened to me—though, in my case, it was more of this intense pulling and stinging sensation along a vein. I ended up going through all sorts of tests and scans, but in the end, nothing could quite pinpoint the cause. Now, I've been taking these tablets for about three years already, and even so, that pain tends to flare up maybe once every three months before it quickly fades away again.
