The ones I’ve been using—they were the 21-pill packs, and then there's the Diane-35 variety... honestly, I'm lost. I'll probably just take a break from them, though I truly have no clue what the right move is.

It’s the most frustrating thing—the old packaging says to take a break, but these newer ones tell you to just keep going. It's like even the manufacturers can't make up their minds... they don't even know!

Thanks for any advice you might have.

Look, if you just start taking them again without doing a break, you're protected right away—but if you decide to wait those 7 days, you definitely need to use backup protection for that month because you're switching from a higher dosage to a lower dosage pill.

I’ve been on Cilest for five months now, and I’m thinking about switching over to Yasmin. Should I just jump straight into the new pack, or is it smarter to take a break first? I was considering taking a month off in between. Honestly, I’m still playing the guessing game trying to figure out which pill actually works for my body. Trinovum was absolutely brutal on me, and while Cilest is alright so far, I had some spotting right in the middle of my cycle last month along with my regular period. It was probably just stress, but I still want to see if there's a better option out there. What do you all think?
Thanks.

Honestly, it’s probably best to just switch immediately. If you take a break, your body basically has to go through the whole "getting used to hormones" thing all over again from scratch—it’s way more of a shock to the system than just transitioning smoothly.
I switched from Cilest to Yaz myself and, honestly, I didn't even notice a difference during the transition.

Oh, really? So, do you find Yaz works better? Is there actually any noticeable difference at all?

Well, I’m taking Yaz, not Yasmin—they're super similar, but Yaz actually has even lower hormone levels. Honestly, I don't see much of a difference, at least not from what I can tell—I'm just about finishing my first pack anyway.

Yeah, yeah, I realized that after the fact. Anyway, thanks. 😉

Hey, I just wanted to jump in here because—honestly?—this whole thread has been living rent-free in my head all morning. I was sitting there with my coffee (trying to be productive, obviously, but failing miserably) when I saw this, and I just had to say something. Does anyone else feel like we’re all just circling the same drain sometimes? Like, you think you’ve finally figured out the pattern, you’ve got the rhythm down, and then—BAM—everything shifts. It’s like that time I tried to reorganize my entire home office last month—I thought I was being so efficient, getting everything in its perfect little place, and then I realized I’d moved my printer to a spot where I couldn't even reach the cord without standing on a chair! Total disaster. Anyway, I digress. What I mean is, regarding what we were discussing earlier... it feels much deeper than just the surface stuff. There's this underlying tension that everyone seems to be ignoring, and I can't be the only one feeling it, right? I really believe if we look at it from a different angle—maybe a bit more holistic, if that makes sense—the answer becomes so much clearer. Just a thought! I'm probably overthinking it, as usual—my friends always tell me I need to learn how to "just let things be," but some of us were born to analyze, I guess! What do you guys think? Am I totally off base here? Please, don't hold back—I genuinely want to hear the real take on this. kaže:
Yeah, yeah, I totally caught on to that—it really hit me. But nah, I’m good, thanks though! 😉

No worries at all—just let me know what you think! Honestly, I'm dying to hear your take on everything.😉

But didn't your doctor tell you exactly how and when to switch over to those other pills? I mean, they should know best since they actually know your medical history. Did you even go in for a check-up (blood work, Pap smear, all that stuff)? I'm always questioning everything with mine—I basically insist on a full exam if my doctor doesn't bring it up first.

It’s just ridiculous—honestly, it's getting weird. I tried asking for a prescription for Diane, but apparently, I don't have "rights" to it because my boyfriend had to go in since I was sick. Then, I called back two or three times just to say I'd come in if necessary, and they basically told me to just stick to the instructions they already gave...
When I asked my sister if I should take a break from them or not, her response was just...🙂DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.
I am definitely looking for a new gynecologist—this whole situation is beyond absurd at this point.😍

Regarding these new pills—no, I haven't had any exams yet. I've got my Pap smear scheduled for next month. I’m assuming since Logest has lower hormone levels it shouldn't be an issue, but still—the way they handle things is completely unprofessional.

Ugh, such a bummer... but honestly, I'm switching from Yasmin to Diane now (moving from lower hormone levels to higher ones), and I’m still totally lost on what to actually do!
The instructions say I should just jump straight into day 22, but my doctor is telling me something completely different! Hey, @slyhound5, if I just keep going with them, will I get my period at the usual time like I normally would even while I'm taking the pills, or does it only happen once I've finished the second round of tablets?

Hey everyone.

So, here’s the deal—I’m probably heading to the gynecologist this week (first time, by the way) to ask about birth control pills. I was just wondering, do you think I'll actually need to get any specific tests or anything like that done first? I guess it depends on how they do things here.

If you’re seeing a standard OB-GYN, expect the usual routine—blood work, liver function tests, breast exams... it’s just part of the protocol.
If memory serves, they ran an ultrasound on me too.

I mean, I basically have to get this done regardless of whether he gives me a referral or not, especially since I dealt with mono last year.
thanks

I have a question... I have been using Yasmin for about three years now, and everything has generally been fine,
but I was wondering how long your periods typically last while on birth control pills... my last two cycles have felt quite sparse. It isn't as if they were particularly heavy before, but these recent ones seem unusually light.
Regarding hygiene, I change my pad twice during the day, but I don't feel there is any need to change it more often than that.

Hey there! Just checking in—not that anyone really asked, I suppose. How’s everything going with you?

If you’ve accidentally taken an emergency contraceptive pill—what most people here probably call the "morning-after pill"—there isn't really much to panic about, though I suppose it can feel pretty overwhelming in the moment. It’s one of those things where you just have to take a breath and figure out the next steps. First off, if you’re worried about whether it’s actually going to work, that depends entirely on how much time has passed since the encounter. Most of these medications, like Plan B, are designed to be taken within a specific window—usually up to 72 hours—though some types can work a bit longer. If you're still within that timeframe, the medication is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Now, regarding what to do next... honestly, you just have to monitor how your body reacts. It’s quite common to experience some side effects—everything from nausea and fatigue to a bit of abdominal pain. I guess it might also throw your menstrual cycle for a loop. You might see some spotting or find that your period arrives a few days early or late. It’s annoying, certainly, but usually nothing to worry about. One thing I should mention—and this is important—is that if your period doesn't show up when you expect it to, you really ought to take a pregnancy test. Even though the pill is highly effective, it isn't a 100% guarantee, especially if there were issues with timing or weight factors. A standard over-the-counter test from a place like CVS or Walgreens should give you the clarity you need after a couple of weeks. Also, please keep in mind that this is a one-time emergency measure. It isn't meant to be used as regular birth control—using it too frequently can definitely mess with your hormones more than necessary. If you're feeling physically unwell in a way that feels "off" or intense, or if you just need professional medical advice to ease your mind, reaching out to a doctor or a clinic like Planned Parenthood is probably your best bet. They deal with this every single day and can provide specific guidance based on your health history. Just stay calm; you'll get through it.

So, I went and did it—I actually swallowed my Sunday pill today instead of my Monday one. It’s the very first tablet of this cycle, and apparently, I just completely miscalculated what day of the week it actually is. So, yeah... the pill has been taken, but for the entirely wrong day! I guess I'm just a bit ahead of schedule—or behind, depending on how you look at it—and now I'm sitting here wondering if I should even be stressing about it. Maybe it doesn't matter as much as I think it does, but still... definitely not the plan.

I’m at my wit's end here—seriously, someone please help me out. 🙂

Look, it doesn't matter which tablet you take, because they're all exactly the same...

Here I am again with another question. 😁 So, here’s the situation: I’ve been on the pill for about 4 or 5 months now, but a few days ago, I started noticing this brownish discharge. I was actually supposed to start my first pill for the new cycle, but I got spooked by the spotting and decided to skip it. It ended up only lasting three days, and now, today is officially the day I should have started. Basically, I was meant to take that first pill three days ago—this past Saturday—but I didn't. What’s the move here? Should I just wait until the next cycle starts, or can I just take one today? 😢

Here I go again with another question:
Things have gotten a bit fuzzy 😢
It’s not huge, but there's definitely a difference (or at least, I see it).
The first time I noticed things getting a little thicker was during a three-month break after being on Logest for half a year. That was back in September, and my stomach area got fuzzier, my bikini line covers a slightly larger area, and I have more fine hair on my face. It’s stayed like that until now.
Today I went to put on a bra and realized my breasts are actually covered in light fuzz, about half a centimeter long.
Should I be worried? I'm a little scared that in six months I'll turn into a mild orangutan, or that once I stop taking these pills for a year, I'll turn into a full-blown orangutan.😢

Ladies, I need some help here. I already posted this on another thread, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. I’ve been scouring the forums, but everything I find seems like a one-off situation that doesn't really apply to what I'm going through. I just finished my pack of birth control, and I was supposed to start the new one right away, but I didn't. Don't ask me why—long story short, I missed two pills. What’s the move now? Should I just pick up where I left off with the next pack, or is that a bad idea? I'm assuming the protection is compromised since I probably didn't stop ovulation in time. Or am I overthinking it? Please, help. 😢😕

Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty terrible ever since I started taking Logest—just awful, really. I’ve been on it for three days now, and the constant hunger is relentless, plus I feel incredibly bloated... it’s just a nightmare 🙏
On the other hand, those Diane pills worked perfectly for me—zero complaints whatsoever
