Hey everyone ๐Ÿ™‚>
I wanted to ask a quick question, just to get some input from you informed women out there ๐Ÿ™‚>

So, I've been on the pill... I've been taking them for about 6 months now, but my OB-GYN told me they aren't really working well for my body and suggested I stop

Anyway, I took my last pill yesterday and I'm supposed to have a week-long break before starting a new pack... but I'm actually planning on stopping altogether
And I did have sex yesterday while I was still on that last pill...
So now I'm wondering if I was protected yesterday even if I don't start the next pack... I'm pretty sure I was, and I know this might sound a little silly, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could let me know
Thanks

What was she basing that conclusion on? Was it her blood work results or something else entirely?

So, hereโ€™s the thing...
I went to see my gynecologist the other day because I wanted to ask about starting birth control pills, and she sent me off for some routine blood work and everything else, you know? Well, I just picked up my results, and I noticed that my HDL cholesterol and glucose levels are both coming in higher than they should be. Could there possibly be a connection between those numbers and the pills? Does anyone know if that could actually be an issue?๐Ÿ˜•

HDL is actually what people call the "good cholesterol," so if your LDL and triglycerides are looking solid, you probably shouldn't have much to worry about thereโ€”though as for the glucose levels, I really wouldn't know.

I mean, I don't know... I went in because my lower stomach has been killing me lately. I feel super bloated all the timeโ€”sometimes it's just pressure, but other times it's like a sharp stabbing pain...
She did an ultrasound and saw a clear cyst on my right ovary
Then she told me to book another appointment in a month and said sheโ€™d prescribe different pills since these clearly aren't working for me

Regarding the cureโ€”Iโ€™m not sure if you all were aware, but this discovery was quite something. Basically, certain local pharmacies won't carry birth control pills because the owner is affiliated with the Catholic Church. They actually have the legal right to refuse to sell them!
I found out firsthand yesterday when I went to pick up my prescription at one of those shops and they told me straight up.

So, Iโ€™ve been taking Triquilar at about a pill and a half daily. Over the last few months, my libido has completely tanked, along with vaginal moisture. On top of that, it's candida, depression, and irritability... I suspect I might need a different prescription, but I don't have an appointment with my doctor in New York until Friday to discuss it.๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Ladies, has anyone else gone through something similar?

My main dilemma is whether I can just grab another pack of birth control pills using my current prescription before I have to head back to see my gynecologist for a refill. I was wondering if getting a new prescription always requires a full follow-up appointment, or if I could potentially just tell her that everything is going well and have her write it out for me?๐Ÿคท

If your prescription was over a year old, theyโ€™d probably make you come in for a checkup and some bloodwork.
If it hasn't been that long, then (at least in my case) there's no big deal, I just get a new script sent over!

Yeah, the prescription was actually for six months.
Thanks so much! ๐Ÿ˜

I just got my latest blood work back, and honestly, Iโ€™m feeling pretty discouraged ๐Ÿ˜ข.
After seven months on Yasmin, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels have shot way up. My cholesterol is sitting at 8.1 (where the upper limit is supposed to be 5.0), and my triglycerides are at 8.23 ๐Ÿ˜ฒ (compared to a normal limit of 1.70). My gynecologist told me I need to take at least a three-month break from the pill immediately. Iโ€™m feeling really down about this because Iโ€™ve actually been through a break before; after taking Yasmin for three years, I had to stop for eight months due to high lipids, and everything eventually leveled out. Aside from these lipid numbers, everything else looks perfect. I don't experience any side effects from the Yasmin at all. I was really hoping to stay on them for another year or two, and I just can't seem to get used to other options like condoms.
Has anyone else dealt with issues regarding blood lipids while on birth control? I was wondering if switching to a different type of extended-release pill might help, though I'll definitely be discussing this further with my doctor. I'm just curious if anyone here has gone through something similar. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Is there any way a gynecologist could write an urgent referral for blood workโ€”like, can I just head straight over right after my appointment instead of waiting in line from 5:00 AM tomorrow?
My local clinic opens at 8:00, but they start drawing blood at 7:00, and apparently, people are already lining up by 5:00โ€”which is just wild. Plus, itโ€™s about an hour's drive to the lab, so there's absolutely no way I'm making that happen. Honestly, after everything you guys have been saying here, I really want to get my levels checked and be done with it.
In my third year of school, I only had my blood drawn once for my medicationsโ€”my doctor basically told me there's just no point in doing it more often than that.

Hmm, I guess he could, but I doubt heโ€™d actually want to. Ask him though! Fingers crossed it works out ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm lowkey wondering if they're gonna make me go in for blood work, since I've been on these meds for like 2 years now...

Jeffrey Walker3; if he doesn't bring it up, just go find out yourself... either talk to him directly or head over to your local family doctor.

If he doesn't bring it up, Iโ€™m probably gonna head to a private clinic anyway just to get an "honest" checkup, so I'll definitely mention it to him.

Hey everyone, Iโ€™ve got a quick question for the group!
So, what are the actual odds of a girl getting pregnant if she's already on birth control pillsโ€”and like, her period shows up perfectly regular every single month after finishing a packโ€”but then, on top of all that, they also use the withdrawal method? Just trying to wrap my head around how much extra "safety" we're talking about here!

Zero. Honestly, none. As long as sheโ€™s actually being consistent with themโ€”like, taking them every single day at the same time or pretty much the same timeโ€”she's good.
