Just curious—does anyone know who nuked my thread on the Parenting forum today and what the deal was? It seems weird since there are plenty of other threads about parenting books all over this subforum.
Thanks. 🙂

It wasn't deleted; it was just merged with an existing thread where people were already talking about that same book. It’s kind of pointless to have multiple discussions going on about the exact same thing.

They aren't the same books. 🙂 Different authors entirely.

By the way, quick question: I can't seem to browse my own post history anymore, nor can I look through anyone else's. Did they just kill that feature, or what?

It was shut down about eighteen months ago. No word yet on if or when it might return...

Take a look at your post from about two weeks ago where you brought up this book and we had that brief little side discussion about it. Besides, you posted the exact same link on this thread right around the same time you started the other one, so it’s not like you didn't know. 😁 But if it matters that much to you, I'll check with the other girls to see if there's even any point in starting a new thread for this book, or if we should just stick to the current one and maybe tweak the title.

All discussions regarding Daniel Siegel's book have been moved over here

Michelle Robinson said:check back at your post from about two weeks ago. You mentioned that book there, and it sparked a brief little debate.

Exactly. I posted in that thread because someone had deleted my previous discussion about that book earlier that day, so I was just looking for another way to get the word out.
Broadly speaking, I think the book is vital. I wanted as many parents as possible to see it.
We live in a world where even plenty of adults haven't fully developed the brain functions that this book's methods aim to build in children. 😛

jadetinker85 said:Exactly. I actually posted that on that specific thread because someone had deleted my previous post about the book earlier that day, and I was just looking for another way to share it.
Broadly speaking, I feel this book is really important and useful, so I wanted to make sure as many parents as possible heard about it.
We live in a world where even many adults haven't really developed those cognitive areas that the techniques in this book aim to build in children. 😛

From what I can see, your first mention of this book was over on the pregnancy and newborn care

(I don't see if it was merged, but if you started the thread yourself, you probably realize we can't keep it there—you really need to be more specific in your opening post about what you want to discuss.)

Two days later, you were posting in the thread about raising kids without yelling, which ties in perfectly, and it’s great that you pointed parents toward the book (which truly is fantastic).
Now that you've brought it up again, I've moved it over to parenting literature, where you're invited to share your experiences, offer advice, and give examples that have actually helped you. If a constructive discussion starts growing with plenty of replies, we can always spin it off into its own dedicated thread.
But as it stands right now, I don't think we need a separate one.

Your thread wasn't deleted; it was merged into an existing one, which I already told you (I'm the one who did it). Looking at the timestamps, you posted in the old thread first and then opened a new one ten minutes later. As for any other "new" threads you think are missing, I haven't seen anything and there's no trace of them here. 🤷Bottom line, it stays as it is.

Look at that, even Michelle Robinson showed up at the exact same time. 😁

(I don't see any merged threads here, but if you started this as a new topic, you should know we need a clearer, more specific opening post to define the discussion.)

Two days later, you were posting in the "gentle parenting" thread—which ties in perfectly—and it was great that you pointed parents toward that book (it really is a solid read).
Since you brought it up again, I've moved this under parenting literature, where you're encouraged to share experiences, advice, and those specific tips that actually worked for you. If a real, high-volume discussion starts brewing, we can spin it off into its own dedicated thread.
But as it stands now, there's no need for a separate one.

Got it. Thanks for clearing that up. 🙂
