How do I delete my own threads or posts?

How to go about deleting my own threads or posts 😕

Honestly, they’re driving me absolutely insane 🙂

There’s actually no way to delete them once they're up. 🙂 Maybe just take a quick second to double-check things before you hit that "post" button next time.

You can still scrub your posts if you catch them within about 90 minutes or so—just look for the EDIT button while it's still active.

So, in that case, am I actually able to just wipe my profile off the face of the earth forever and then immediately start fresh with a brand new one—using the exact same email address?😢

You aren't actually able to delete your profile. 🙂 However, you should be able to just set up a brand new one, provided your current account hasn't been banned—and from what you're saying, it hasn't. As far as the email goes, I think on that existing profile Andrew Morales9 you might be able to swap out the email address, and then you could probably use that same email to register your next account.

I might be mistaken here, but I'm pretty sure you can't have two different accounts linked to the exact same email address, since the Forum system tracks all that data in its database.

John Stewart61 really hit the nail on the head with everything he said. Honestly, you might want to just retire this account altogether and start fresh with a brand new one, but there's a catch—you can't go around posting on the same thread using two different handles. Plus, on certain sub-forums, you’re actually required to stick to the same username across every single topic. 🙂

Just a heads-up, you aren't able to delete your old posts once they're up, but if you're looking to swap out your email address, you can easily do that within your account settings under the "edit email & password" section. 🙂

Thanks rustydrifter10, but I honestly don't get why we can't just wipe old posts from the board. Not even the admins can clear out those threads?? It feels totally nonsensical to me! Just seems like such a massive oversight!!

We generally don't go around deleting old posts because doing that would totally mess up the flow of the conversation, and honestly, it just wouldn't be fair to everyone else who put in the effort to contribute to the topic.

I mean, yeah, I get it, but honestly, since I’m the one who actually sat down and wrote the post, I feel like I should at least have the option to pull it down if I wanted to, you know? But hey, I guess these rules are just weirdly set in stone here...

What a load of crap. If someone wants their posts gone, it shouldn't matter what anyone else wrote—it’s just like when you lock a thread and leave all that useless text sitting there when you can't change anything anymore. These stupid rules are a total disaster...

What kind of "fairness" are we even talking about here? A post is posted, a conversation happens, and then what? Are we supposed to take screenshots and frame the chat? If someone asks to have something removed, it should be a simple click and done—not this ridiculous runaround. Think about how this specific thread would even look if we suddenly wiped every single one of rustydrifter10's posts. Try reading through it right now while skipping over her replies—just see what happens. Then, just imagine what the Forum would actually look like if we deleted all 28,500 of her posts at once... 🙄

I am inclined to agree that posts shouldn't be deleted entirely, but they ought to at least be subject to editing—provided there is a valid reason and moderator approval. This is especially true when a thread has zero engagement, and you simply wish to tweak the wording to better elicit a response. The current system is utterly nonsensical. I submitted my last post four or five days ago; it has been viewed by roughly 160 people, yet not a single soul has deigned to reply. Now, I want to make some minor adjustments so it stays in the same category while hopefully finally garnering some attention, but that is impossible due to the arbitrary rules regarding post edits on this Forum. It is complete nonsense.
We, as regular users of this Forum, are permitted to edit our own posts only for a fleeting moment, whereas the moderators can manipulate them whenever they please! What an absolute absurdity!
