How to save webpages?

I've been trying to find a way to save certain webpages for later, and I’ve been experimenting with those "save as" options, but it feels like it isn't quite working the way I want because everything just keeps opening back up online... Plus, taking a simple print screen is totally out of the question since it doesn't capture the entire page from top to bottom. Does anyone happen to know a better way to actually get this done?

Save it as > Web Archive (single file). You just pick a spot on your hard drive and you're good to go. It actually works!

It’s actually pretty straightforward if you're using Google Chrome

Just go to FILE > SAVE PAGE AS > type in whatever name you want and hit ENTER (just make sure you have "Webpage, Complete" selected)

If you’re looking to get a bit more "professional" about it, you could always try using some dedicated HTML scrapers.

How does this actually work with Opera? When I save something in Opera and then try to open it offline using Mozilla, it just won't load...

Well, if you look back, crimsonfalcon67 actually laid it all out for you quite clearly.
Just go to File > Save As, and when you get to the file type dropdown, make sure you select Web archive (single file) then hit Save. Once you've done that, you should be able to open that file in whatever application you prefer, whether it's Word, Internet Explorer, or even Opera itself.

I’m having such a hard time with this... I try saving everything through Opera and then switching over to Opera offline, but nothing will open, not even in the offline version itself, so could you please just save a specific section of the page for me instead? 😢

Why make it so complicated? Just save it in Mozilla and open it right there!☕
By the way, Mozilla has this killer extension called FireShot. You can use it to capture the entire page or just whatever part is on your screen, and then even edit it.
It saves in gif, jpg, png, or bmp formats. Then you can just open it with whatever you want!👍

There you go! I saved the whole entire page. Everything works, all the links are active and good to go. Honestly, why make things so complicated?

I can't find that "scrapbook" extension anywhere... all I'm getting is some random forum topic about scrapbooking, but nothing for actually grabbing web pages

I really need this thing because I gotta show some websites to my aunt—she doesn't have any internet on her computer—so I figured I'd just save the pages on mine and dump them onto a thumb drive for her.

Have you tried just using "Save Page As" and selecting "Webpage, Complete"?

But look, I don't really need that "full page capture" thing to just grab what's sitting there—I need it to actually snag everything hidden behind the links when I click through them.
Like, if a site has 20 different links on it, am I seriously supposed to open all 20 of those individual pages and manually go through the whole "file/save as webpage" process 20 separate times?
That's ridiculous. I mean, I want the tool to just grab the main landing page along with all those sub-links tucked underneath it in one go.

All you really need is the right tool for the job: http://www.httrack.com/

It basically grabs entire webpages and saves them so you can browse them offline later. Within the software itself, you can actually customize how deep the crawler goes when following links.

I mean, you can actually just go into the settings within the app itself and tweak how deep the crawler goes when it's grabbing links.

So, I just finished setting this thing up, did everything it asked me to do, but I'm looking all over the place and I seriously cannot find where the option is to set the "link depth" or whatever.

Ugh, now I’m totally lost... is that supposed to be the first field or the second one?

It’s just not working at all
So, I typed the number 1 into that first field (for depth) and hit finish, then after maybe 5 seconds, it tells me it's done
Then I head over to the folder where it saved everything and I see these files:
proba
backblue.gif
fade.gif
index.html
proba.whtt

But when I click on proba.whtt or index.html, it just opens up some random stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the webpage

Just drop the link to whatever page you're trying to save, and I'll give it a shot on my end.

Take a look at the URL bar in Google Chrome. I'm running this on Windows 2000 inside a virtual machine. I didn't mess with any of the program settings—though, looking back, maybe I should have, just to ensure it doesn't strip all the active links from the page. Either way, everything seems to be functioning perfectly fine.
