How to set a macOS shutdown timer?

Is there a way to set things up so that when I’m working—say, typing something up in Google Docs and then closing out, or just browsing the web on Chrome and shutting the window—the whole system just shuts down automatically? Like, once the apps are gone, the computer follows suit?
Is there a specific app for this kind of thing, or maybe a setting I can tweak to make it happen?

Depends on why you need this—if we're talking about some kind of "psychosis" (don't take me literally, obviously), then what follows probably won't cut it:

while you're still active in an app (like Google Docs)'
' - hit simultaneously on the keyboard keys "(left) Alt" and "F4"
a pop-up should appear asking to exit the program. Click OK;

- once the program closes, hit those same two keys again
this time a pop-up should appear to confirm the shutdown. Click OK there;

P.S.
that key combo can also be used just for a shutdown—straight from a "blank" desktop

I'm already aware of those keyboard shortcuts, but that’s not really what I’m after here. What I actually need is some kind of software—or something along those lines—that can just automate the whole process for me...

The reasoning behind this request and what’s actually happening here is pretty fuzzy, but maybe try something like this

Swap out that shortcut for Google Docs exe with a shortcut to cmd that does the following:
it launches Google Docs using the start /w option
once Google Docs is closed, it runs the next line: shutdown /t0

Again, this is just the basic idea. Honestly, the whole request feels a bit pointless since you can obviously just run any other programs you want without even closing Google Docs first, right?

Batch (.bat) file?

Save it in a "safe" folder (maybe My Documents) and just create a shortcut to that file on your desktop—then double-click the shortcut. That should cover it.

In my opinion, it’s better and easier than messing around with some random program or app... or at least just as simple.

I’m honestly lost on what you guys are even saying here. I think I’ll just head over to Google and see if I can figure out how to pull this off using a batch file instead...

For Google Docs. Or for anything else. It’s similar... but not quite the same. You need to specify the exact location of the .exe file.

So, after wading through about 50 different shutdown utilities and putting them all to the test, I finally stumbled onto something useful. It turns out you can actually use the Shutdown Timer to set it up so the computer kills itself automatically once a specific process wraps up...
