Honestly, the movie was a total slog and pretty poorly made. Just read the book instead.

Exactly—this movie was a total disaster. It felt like fifteen different directors tried to call the shots at once... there’s zero cohesion in the storytelling, and don't even get me started on the casting for the leads.

I'd give it a 2/10, honestly—and that's strictly because of "young Coleman," who actually pulled off his part reasonably well...

From what I can gather, everyone seems to be on the same page about the book being way better than the movie, but honestly, there aren't that many films where the adaptation actually beats the source material anyway, so there's really no point in stressing over it. For those of you who haven't cracked open the book yet—kind of like me—I’d say the movie is pretty decent and the story itself keeps you hooked enough.

Man, those two who started this thread almost talked me out of watching it. But honestly? It’s actually good. The story is super engaging, and the cast is top-tier—though I gotta say, maybe Nicole Kidman wasn't the perfect fit for this specific role; she just didn't quite nail that exhausted look they were going for. Still, it’s better than most of those overhyped Hollywood dramas we've seen lately.

Take *About a Boy*, for instance.
The movie actually holds its own against the book...

I haven't actually sat down to read the book. To be honest, the movie isn't exactly some life-changing masterpiece, but it’s still pretty engaging and definitely worth a watch—especially since the cast is just incredible. Nicole is 👍 , and Hopkins is already legendary 🙏
