I, Robot

So, we’ve got this absolute masterpiece from Isaac Asimov—seriously one of the GOATs of sci-fi—coming our way soon... I just caught the trailer and, man, I was totally floored seeing Will Smith in the lead. It’s honestly kind of a disaster. I feel like he hasn't really nailed a massive hit in forever, yet Hollywood keeps shoving him into these huge roles 😢

But hey, maybe I'm being too harsh and it'll actually be awesome, who knows? 👍

Seriously, Will, you're in the "bible" of robot noir? They completely butchered Asimov's work. Fingers crossed Smith actually plays a robot though.👎

Man, I'd pay to see Sharon Stone playing some robot shrink in a flick where she has to figure out which "glitched" robot can actually read minds!

I am proposing a large, coordinated, and optional boycott of this recent film. I watched the trailer today... If my memory of the novel serves me—and it does—there was never any high-speed motorcycle chases or massive battles between humans and robots. Nor do I recall the protagonist attempting to be witty by asking for sugar in his coffee during a briefing in that irresistible, Will Smith-style "cool guy" persona where he acts like he's effortlessly hip, just missing a gold chain around his neck.

I think I might have actually started this thread myself, but oh well, here we go again...

It feels like we’re just going to get the same old tired responses over and over... basically, everyone saying THE MOVIE IS GOING TO BE TRASH.

I suppose it would be quite refreshing if the film actually managed to surprise us, though I guess I'm probably being a bit too optimistic about that...
